- Einstein, Smartest Man Alive ? - Einstein was once asked how it felt to be the smartest man alive. Einstein's reply was: " I don't know, you'll have to ask Tesla."

Tesla anyone? I mean, Einstein himself said Tesla was a genius. invented AC power, remote control, predicted the internet, predicted wifi, predicted wireless electricity, predicted drone warfare, invented the telsa coil. He even invented the fluorescent light bulb in the time between being announced as the person to light the worlds fair, and the actual worlds fair. And I'm not even talking about the crazy death ray stuff yet.

Tesla's IQ is equivalent to Steven Hawking at worst, roughly 160 However, Tesla's best even beats William James Sidis' best by 10 points So I definitely think he is either one of the best inventors of all time, or the person with the highest IQ to have ever lived

Generally his ideas were limited by money, he also tended to spout crazy ideas too like he was a conduit for aliens.He also had a "best friend" that was a pigeon near the end of his life. He really was ahead of his time, he did speak a ton of languages and he is the reason we use alternating current instead of direct current like Edison wanted.He was smart, but maybe not the smartest person that ever lived.

This list is wrong, but all these people saying Tesla because of Einstein's quote is pathetic. Tesla doesn't crack top 15, neither do most of these. The top 10 will certainly include: Gauss, Euler, Newton, Terry Tao, Hilbert, Galois, Cauchy
@bordeaux1337
@bordeaux1337 6 жыл бұрын
Finally, someone mentioning Euler and Gauss. It has been mentioned that Gauss would have put the world 50 years ahead in mathematics if he had released his work. Laplace and Lagrange would be honorable mentions as well. What triggers me most is seeing Judit Polgar on 6th. She is only like a top 50 chess player currently (Is this just to have a woman on the list?) Surely players like Morphy, Karpov, Fischer or Magnus would be above her.
@akaakaakaak5779
@akaakaakaak5779 6 жыл бұрын
+Lasse Andersen yeah, I agree it was just to have a woman on the list. I think just about any world champion should place above Judit Polgar, the ones you mentioned also Capablanca, Tal, Lasker and a personal favourite of mine, Ivanchuk.

@luka3292
@luka3292 6 жыл бұрын
Alexander Wolford no, just no... he was stealing them... its weird how apple fanboys use the same excuse for apple stealing ideas. also, because of tesla you have electricity, if everyone used the kind of electricity edison wanted to use, the range would be too short and because of the prices that that would cost everyone would stop even trying to make it work.
@luka3292
@luka3292 6 жыл бұрын
Alexander Wolford 1. its good that you prefer microsoft 2. tesla made a huge amount of inventions and some probably arent even discovered. edison wanted to use a type of electricity that flows in one direction, but that gives a really short range, tesla discovered two way electricity by changing the magnetic field of a coil, and thats how generators work, tesla made all of that even before knowing edison, and edison literally improved nothing. some people still think that edison was the "genius" who managed to transport electricity... but thats not correct. in conclusion, he didnt make edisons idea better because of how different the two types of electricity are and because of how much earlier tesla was working on his theory
@luka3292
@luka3292 6 жыл бұрын
Alexander Wolford nope. he kind of invented the lightbulb, but it only lasted for like 14 hours or something like that. also, one way electricity was not used a lot if at all because of the inefficient transportation

And here we see that intelligence means nothing without determination or the drive to use it. Seems that nearly every modern-day genius has wasted their gifts on a simple life.
@NGMonocrom
@NGMonocrom 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I guess I'm old-fashioned. I belong to an age that says if you've been gifted, it's your responsibility to use your gifts to make a better world. Or at the very least, try. Outside of philosophy, how many truly gifted individuals from the late 20th century to the early 21st are there who didn't waste away their gifts and talents? A whole $#@%load clearly did, and good luck being able to name anyone who didn't. I come from a time when laziness and apathy was considered a bad thing. Especially if it was clear that someone was chosen for a higher calling than simply a quiet, lazy life in obscurity.
@Lexzah
@Lexzah 6 жыл бұрын
I don't know about you, but if I was bullied for having a gift of intelegence, or forced into expectations I didn't want by so may other people at such a young age. With no time to think about myself and what I want to do. The pressure would make me want to be left alone as well and live quietly. We live in a time where intelegence and other talents are bullied and manipulated.
@NGMonocrom
@NGMonocrom 6 жыл бұрын
+Hazel Fuller You want life to be easy? Yeah, I was bulled too. Didn't cause it to shrink away from life or responsibility. Geniuses are different but they're not made out of delicate glass.

@NGMonocrom
@NGMonocrom 6 жыл бұрын
+Hazel Fuller Honestly, the old saying "Living well is the best revenge" is absolutely true. When you give up and just hide away from the world living an obscure quiet life, that's when the stupid, ignorant bullies win. That's when they beat you. And again, geniuses from older generations as a whole didn't let the bullies win. Clearly, made of sterner stuff. Those were the ones who are now respected and admired long after their deaths. Their bullies died in obscurity. Forgotten by the world. The modern day geniuses have chosen to follow their bullies into forgotten obscurity.

im smart! look, In 1608, a congregation of disgruntled English Protestants from the village of Scrooby, Nottinghamshire, left England and moved to Leyden, a town in Holland. These “Separatists” did not want to pledge allegiance to the Church of England, which they believed was nearly as corrupt and idolatrous as the Catholic Church it had replaced, any longer. (They were not the same as the Puritans, who had many of the same objections to the English church but wanted to reform it from within.) The Separatists hoped that in Holland, they would be free to worship as they liked Did You Know? The Separatists who founded the Plymouth Colony referred to themselves as “Saints,” not “Pilgrims.” The use of the word “Pilgrim” to describe this group did not become common until the colony’s bicentennial. In fact, the Separatists (they called themselves “Saints”) did find religious freedom in Holland, but they also found a secular life that was more difficult to navigate than they’d anticipated. For one thing, Dutch craft guilds excluded the migrants, so they were relegated to menial, low-paying jobs. Even worse was Holland’s easygoing, cosmopolitan atmosphere, which proved alarmingly seductive to some of the Saints’ children. (These young people were “drawn away,” Separatist leader William Bradford wrote, “by evill [sic] example into extravagance and dangerous courses.”) For the strict, devout Separatists, this was the last straw. They decided to move again, this time to a place without government interference or worldly distraction: the “New World” across the Atlantic Ocean. THE MAYFLOWER First, the Separatists returned to London to get organized. A prominent merchant agreed to advance the money for their journey. The Virginia Company gave them permission to establish a settlement, or “plantation,” on the East Coast between 38 and 41 degrees north latitude (roughly between the Chesapeake Bay and the mouth of the Hudson River). And the King of England gave them permission to leave the Church of England, “provided they carried themselves peaceably.” In August 1620, a group of about 40 Saints joined a much larger group of (comparatively) secular colonists-“Strangers,” to the Saints-and set sail from England on two merchant ships: the Mayflower and the Speedwell. The Speedwell began to leak almost immediately, however, and the ships headed back to port. The travelers squeezed themselves and their belongings onto the Mayflower and set sail once again. Because of the delay caused by the leaky Speedwell, the Mayflower had to cross the Atlantic at the height of storm season. As a result, the journey was horribly unpleasant. Many of the passengers were so seasick they could scarcely get up, and the waves were so rough that one “Stranger” was swept overboard and drowned. (It was “the just hand of God upon him,” Bradford wrote later, for the young sailor had been “a proud and very profane yonge man.”) THE MAYFLOWER COMPACT After two miserable months at sea, the ship finally reached the New World. There, the Mayflower’s passengers found an abandoned Indian village and not much else. They also found that they were in the wrong place: Cape Cod was located at 42 degrees north latitude, well north of the Virginia Company’s territory. Technically, the Mayflower colonists had no right to be there at all. In order to establish themselves as a legitimate colony (“Plymouth,” named after the English port from which they had departed) under these dubious circumstances, 41 of the Saints and Strangers drafted and signed a document they called the Mayflower Compact. This Compact promised to create a “civil Body Politick” governed by elected officials and “just and equal laws.” It also swore allegiance to the English king. PLYMOUTH COLONY AND THE FIRST THANKSGIVING The colonists spent the first winter, which only 53 passengers and half the crew survived, living onboard the Mayflower. (The Mayflower sailed back to England in April 1621.) Once they moved ashore, the colonists faced even more challenges. During their first winter in America, more than half of the Plymouth colonists died from malnutrition, disease and exposure to the harsh New England weather. In fact, without the help of the area’s native people, it is likely that none of the colonists would have survived. An English-speaking Pawtuxet named Samoset helped the colonists form an alliance with the local Wampanoags, who taught them how to hunt local animals, gather shellfish and grow corn, beans and squash. At the end of the next summer, the Plymouth colonists celebrated their first successful harvest with a three-day festival of thanksgiving. We still commemorate this feast today. Eventually, the Plymouth colonists were absorbed into the Puritan Massachusetts Bay Colony. Still, the Mayflower Saints and their descendants remained convinced that they alone had been specially chosen by God to act as a beacon for Christians around the world. “As one small candle may light a thousand,” Bradford wrote, “so the light here kindled hath shone to many, yea in some sort to our whole nation.”

Nicola Tesla was 3-4 times as smart as the smartest guy included here. Einsten was not even any particularly smart, there is plenty of evidence to point to him as just moderately smart. He was not a good student, he was a cheater (cheating is often a sign of smart-enough-but-not-really-very-smart brain since the very smart simply require no cheating to achieve their end targets). Just to understand the volume of the brain of Nicola Tesla, he was able to develop in his brain ideas that had never been expressed in the past, out of the blue, then develop them (.. in his brain always!), then built and assemble them in all their complexity with all their parts and sub-assemblies (... in his brain always!!!!), and then put them for testing (.... in his brain, ... yes... in his brain...!!!!!!!!) and while doing all that then finding out how to improve them, i.e. doing in his brain what others would require whole teams of developers, designers, manufacturing engineers and test-teams to figure out. As such by the time he was ordering the manufacturing of his inventions, the inventions were surprisingly mature requiring little more improvements for a first-of-a-kind devices.

I'll have to just correct, Einstein was actually a fairly good student. His grades weren't bad at all (he excelled in mathematics, physics & chemistry) and had decent grades for the rest.

I didn’t see Nikola Tesla on this list... seems like an oversight to me, especially since they referenced the death ray, which was Tesla’s invention (not Einstein’s), and Tesla was the only person in the world who knew how to build one.... Ed Leedskalnin also didn’t make the list... what???

Centurion X completely disagree with you. Euler was by FAR the greatest mathematician to ever step foot on this planet. You can’t even compare him with Newton... Tesla on the other hand was the greatest engineer to ever live. Newton though was just a physicist ahead of his time who was brilliant comparing him to the people of his time but comparing him to Tesla or Euler is flat out pathetic. I’m guessing you haven’t taken high level math classes if you think calculus was all Newtons idea too. Most of the notation Newton used was very impractical and Leibniz’s was just way better. Also, I could argue that if Newton was never born we would probably only be a couple dozen years behind technologically but if Euler wasn’t born we would be hundreds of years behind since a lot of the Math needed for computer science was actually discovered by Euler.

As one of the geniuses mentioned, IQ tests simply don't mean much past the 150s or so - i.e. the people far smarter than the team designing the tests. And half the really bright ones realize that showing off your intellect all the time doesn't make for a happy life.
