If you would have read the lore, you would know, that there are no good or bad guys, just different ideologies. Every faction can be good or bad, depends on your view. TR is a collectivistical system, always striving to achieve the best for the most people. This, however, means that the individual rights are overlooked lots of times. NC wants to establish a very individualistic system, which isn't bad or good, really depends on what you think about it. However, they are fighting with big corporations alongside, which are using these rebels to achieve victory. VS wants to achieve enlightenment (god likelihood, no more human problems like hunger, war, epidemics) through radical use and exploration of alien technology (we found immortality on Auraxis, so this is likely to actually happen). But we don't know what happened to Vanu who created this technology in the first place. Maybe they eradicated themselves through accident or they became gods through their technology.

Why is everyone so argumentative about the history of factions? When you're playing the game, you don't fight and kill for the factions cause really, just for certs and entertainment. The only reason people like factions is because of the community. VS are mostly veterans (BR 100s) who have been in the game a long time. TR are a very professional and statistical faction, using teamwork and tactics to win fights. NC, sadly, consists of newbs who are blood hungry because of 'freedom' and 'MURICA' etc. Just because NC are the typical, rebellious, heroes in stories, doesnt mean that they are superior in video games, because they are played by real life people, and not made-up stereotypical characters.

When they rallied, TR killed all the peaceful protesters and even killed innocent bystanders who were watching this all go down. As for the Vanu, the Vanu and NC had major disagreements in policies. As we all know, disagreements lead to conflict. Conflict into war. The Vanu engineered the human body, which the NC found disgusting and unnatural. Even before the VS split from the TR, the TR condemned Vanu researchers on their experiments, which prompted some to be persuaded to form the VS. The TR and NC want to preserve the natural progression of human life. VS wants to engineer it and improve it. Why not go with the latter? Lemme put it into context for you. Currently, meat manufacturers are creating "test tube" meat. They extract the muscle tissue from a cow, and then proceed to genetically engineer it into multiplying. There's already an ongoing debate about being organic and getting rid of this "test tube" meat. You'd want the natural beef instead of the weird modified one, right? Of course! It's only natural to steer away from unnatural substances when we eat. You wouldn't drink bleach now, would you? Of course not! It's not natural... that and it'll kill and and most likely taste bad.
