Congratulations on your promotion! I hope you find something quickly that works well for you 😅 I would have never thought about using same color tabs in a columnar layout and love that idea for work and home. I’m still struggling with what sizes I’m going to use for 2024 and am feeling the pressure with all these preorders, deadlines, and budget limitations 🤦🏻♀️ Your videos are helpful since they’re very detailed and bring up points that don’t occur to me in the frenzy of the moment. I’ve been planning many years so you’d think I’d have this down by now. It seems shops are always coming up with new layouts and sizes, so just when I think I know what I’m doing…I don’t 🤷🏻♀️

I’m so excited for all the options now but it does make for a lot of decisions. For my personal planner i tend to plan in the same method regardless of the layout or size so it’s more about the paper and how portable I want it. But there’s also sizes that are happy places for me for my writing comfort. So i understand completely. So glad that you find my videos helpful.

Great to see how you’ve been making this work so far. I have a similar process to you, but I don’t use dailies as everything I need is already in the weekly. I use the notes pages for meeting notes/dumps/mind mapping etc, some times I’ll use half a page, sometimes I’ll use 4 pages in a day. My reference stuff is also mixed through - no need to start a new page. I do however use a brightly coloured dot sticker to signal what the note is about eg Process, HR etc and I index these in the blank spreads at the start of the book, so it’s easy to find the eg process note I made about when I need to reference it. For me the issue is more about “losing” those notes when I move into to the next year, so I do also make an entry in OneNote at the end of every day to summarise progress on a project, add reference material etc. I find that a useful way to close the day down and reset my brain! Took me a while, but I eventually figured out I could just copy a picture of my written notes into my online notebook and not have to write it all out again! I’m sticking with SI for 2024 for work, haven’t decided on B6 or A5 yet, but am all over the place with my personal - goals and journal/diary are going in SI monthly booklet and the SI Notebook, and my mundane day to day planning and notes will be in an A6 edc, but none of the formats suit me - I want one like aura estelle and I like the quarterly for logging steps, weight chart etc but i cannot work with weekly spreads and notes pages bundled. The wonderland 22 is a vertical week which I don’t really need as I’m at work M-F. Can’t wait to see what you design - good luck with it, I’ll be in the pre-order queue!

I’m so glad you’ve got your work system nailed down. I’m really excited for 2024 since it’ll be my 2nd year in my new position so I have a better handle on what I need and I’m excited for my work line up. I think the addition of my reference binder will help a lot. But I’ll keep a note about your OneNote process too!

I sooo appreciate your video. I love the cover and the tabs. I actually bought an AVEC, Common planner and a Laurel Denise planner for 2024 to choose from (I know such a waste) I gifted some of them. After using the B6 W222 for 2023. I decided to purchase an A5 W222 for 2024. I love their layout. I really missed the Overview and Review pages. Thank you for the comparisons and the ideas. I LOVE the CATEGORY tabs you did in the back, I was struggling with organizing that area!! and am all over the place with those pages lol **** If you create your planner, I would buy one, keep us posted****

I’m so glad you found this helpful! I understand buying multiple planners to find the right fit-it can be hard. Luckily gifting and selling are great options so it’s not a waste! But I have a survey linked in my community tab if you want to put in some feedback on what you want/like.

39:01 the number on the line was strange to me. I don’t use the time but it still weirded me out. I’m still getting the common planner though. Im crossing my fingers that the numbers are faint enough for me to ignore. I really appreciate all of your planner knowledge, thanks for sharing!
@JustScribble Жыл бұрын
They are definitely faint - dark enough to see but light enough to ignore - because I've changed my layouts completely some weeks in June and didn't notice the times at all - didn't need white out or anything. I'm glad I'm not the only one that was bothered by the time change LOL. Sometimes I think I'm being too picky but now I can't use the time as I normally would to time-block or mark events because it will be obscured. I just don't see the benefit of the change or understand the genesis. But of course I still ordered her planners for 2024 - just won't for work. Thanks so much for watching and your kind words!

Or maybe sparkle ones 😝 On my personal I tend to just tab wherever but then it makes it hard to find stuff when I go back to look at memories. so I'm thinking of my categories and how I'd do that in my personal. It's been working so well for this (even with all my struggles) --- if I didnt have it like this I'd be lost!

I am exactly the same with loving the paper. I just started summarizing/transcribing into OneNote at the end of the week anything that I knew I might need to reference in later years. I have found the transcribing helps me re-read my dailies and internalize.

I totally feel you in the struggle of needed information across years. I’m not sure there’s a way around a separate book or transcribing things again somewhere else though. I’ve thought about reviewing my written notes on a set schedule and adding the items to an electronic collection (either scanning or typing) or just transcribing into a reference notebook. Another option could be an index. You’d still have to pull the old planner off the shelf, but you’d have a singular reference so you know exactly where to look for it.
@JustScribble Жыл бұрын
That’s the same thoughts I’ve had as I’ve been thinking thru and working thru this. I need to change some of my planning processes. And plan to create a reference binder. @JustScribble Жыл бұрын
So glad you've found a system that works for you. I did the same in the past in the Cousin but didn't like the amount of functional space I lost with the dates and the quotes and also I'm not good with a calendex...just not how my brain works so the Cousin isn't a good option for me. If you create your own planner. Can you consider the following: I love the W222 layout, especially the Overview and Review pages. Could you add 3-5 blank grid pages after the weeklies. So it would be the month, the week, 3-5 pages. In the back you can add some more 90+ blank grid pages for reference pages, note taking. and 2. I am not much of an index-er as well, but if you add the index pages for those that are, can you already number them, so all I have to do is fill it in? Maybe that will help me become a better index-er. thank you.

Thank you for this video. I always get some information from all of your videos and really appreciate your attention to detail. I totally feel your pain about which planner to get. As a project manager and developer, I really like your ideas about using the Wonderland quarterly section for work projects. Sadly, my project deadlines seem to shift like the wind, due to dependencies on stakeholders outside the team, so I will have to pencil them in. So I did purchase the b6 wonderland. However, I can see the benefit of using a ring planner and creating my own project planner by hand so it works the way I want to, and grows with me. I may switch to rings if this doesn't do it for me. I do have one question for you - where do you find your tabs? I love them!

@JustScribble Жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. If you order her undated planner (like I did for my work planner) she sells stickers that you can buy to use to date it. They are an add-on. Some people have dated by hand or with stamps but I bought the stickers as they are a PERFECT fit and they look exactly like the dated planner. But if you buy a dated planner (the preorder for 2024 ended earlier this summer, but she ordered extras to list in the shop when they arrive) then you don't need stickers because it is dated. And the dated comes in a huge number of sizes and styles (I have a video sharing all those details).

That change in the times on the week is kind of significant, especially since they essentially removed the half hour mark. Definitely reduces functionality.
@JustScribble Жыл бұрын
Actually the half hour is still there in all vertical layouts with the exception of passport and A6. Those planners are so short/small they did hourly blocks because there wasn’t enough space. But on all other sizes (N2, B6, N1, A5) there’s still a half hour slot like before - just the time is on the vertical line now. So we didn’t lose that function (though I still don’t like the placement of the time personally).

That's a great idea and something I've pondered a bit...except I'm terrible at indexing LOL. I just not an index-er. But I have thought that it would be a good option at year end once the book is complete to be able to go back and reference later. That's what I do in my personal planner and did in my EDC in the past too - work from the front back with dated items and back frontward with notes/commonplace. But because I wanted to start my notes/common place with a certain section of information and don't know how many pages I would need I started them after my weeks. Not knowing for sure how many pages I needed for reference/commonplace caused part of the issue. But in hindsight I would do it differently if I set this up again for work. I count out my work days without weekends and without holidays and vacation and then start the notes after that.

41:05 why W222 has the horizontal line on the page after 14th hour?!?!? Is tgere a reason for this?
@JustScribble Жыл бұрын
The horizontal line is the half of the page - its to divide the page in half because some people like to make quadrants, or half pages vertically or horizontally so it's a little darker so that you can easily divide your page. SterlingInk puts dots at the halfway points on all four sides to ease the sectioning. Same process just different way of denoting it. The placement has nothing to do with the hour/timeline.
