I've been really enjoying the podcast this year and looking forward to see where you take it next year! One topic I think would be really interesting to hear you reflect on is overconsumption in the planner/journal/stationery community. I think there are so many angles you could approach the topic from, for example, as people who both have large collections of stationery, where do you draw the line between collecting and overconsumption? Or as content creators do you ever feel pressured to buy something you otherwise wouldn't in the name of making content? Etc..

I've enjoyed binge watching the Planner Pals podcast during the Christmas break. It's inspired me to create! Ideas for season 2: - someone mentioned you guys seem more relaxed and joke-y this episode. Would love to see more of that. I personally prefer when the editing is more 'loose' and there are (breathing) pauses😉. - interview not only content creators, but also people in the community who don't create content, but are avid planners and bujo' ers - have people send in what trouble they're having in their bujo and/or planning system and you guys give advice - indeed an episode where you rotate your supplies - an episode about shopping your stash

I had thought about interviewing planners for my channel so a bit disappointed you got there first but at the same time I’m excited because you’ll have better contacts than me. I can’t wait to see your first interview ❤ If you ever want to interview me about keeping journals for recording hobbies and keeping them organised - get in touch 😊 Topics I’d love to hear you talk about: 1. weekly/monthly reviews - do you use them, tips, how to incorporate into your practice, are you just picking up unfinished tasks or do you also look at what did and didn’t work, how often etc. Its one of the main elements of bullet journaling that I kind of slide on. 2. Diarising your day. Did you keep a diary as a child, if you do it now do you use prompts or just ramble on about what you did, what form does it take (ie. how is it incorporated into your journal) which prompts have been most useful, have you tried something like Morning Pages? I would love to see a discussion if for some reason, you guys were unable to continue bullet journaling, which planner that’s currently on the market would you guys choose to do your planning in? And perhaps do some “window shopping” on some websites of why you’d choose a certain planner over another. I hope that makes sense! Hello planner pals!! May I offer a suggestion for future videos? The best distance from a podcast setting is from the waist up, that way people will be even more engaged because we can also see expressive hand gestures! Highly recommend!

You two are so good together! So many 2 person podcasts are full of crosstalk and interruptions, I appreciate how you respect each other and allow the other to complete their sentences. Loved the discussion about gender in planning. I am a planner person - not a planner babe, not a planner girlie. I’m a grandma now and have always loved collecting stationary products and making lists. I remember when there were only a handful of planners made and there might have been a whopping choice of 4 sets for annual Franklin Covey inserts. 😂

Grateful for this space and the work you've done together! I love the idea of interviews and I think one option could be to bring someone on who is having trouble figuring out how to track or use their journal for something. If they shared ahead of time what the challenge is, then you two could each do a rough attempt in your R&Ds to offer ideas to the interviewee. As for topics, there are so many personality-type quizzes out there. I think it could be interesting for you both to do one and then reflect together on how your personality is reflected in how you bujo and what works or doesn't work for you. I love the Four Tendencies quiz by gretchen rubin and as a Questioner with Rebel tendencies, a lot of habit tracking or goal-setting that works for others doesn't work for me. Strengths Finder, Enneagram, and Meyers-Briggs are the well-known ones that could be interesting too.

You two are awesome! Jess - because you got me hooked on Archer & Olive, and Mark - because you introduced Jess to Lumos pens by Tom's Studio!! Guess what I got for Christmas?? Yep. A Lumos duo, in Ivy, with three inks: Constellation, Iris, and two Neptunes!! Oh my goodness - my hubby saw the price back in August (?) and said, no, not gonna happen.... But Santa heard my wish. You asked for Ideas for next year. I use a Hobonichi cousin for my bullet journal because I don’t like drawing everything out. I use the bullet journal method in my Hobonichi. I am very minimalist with it. I only used different coloured pens and fonts to make it look different. I am happy with my style of bullet journaling it works for me and that is the point but I sometimes feel like an outsider.

This podcast has been really fun to watch/listen to! I appreciated the look at things I don't do, like using fountain pens. I've tried, but I can't seem to figure out the grip for my left-handedness. I know Mark's left-handed, too, so I liked seeing how he's used them. I'd like to see a bit of branching out - the podcast so far has been mostly focused on bullet journals - which is great because I use a bullet journal for my personal planning. But I also use pre-printed planners, and hearing from others who do that as compared to bullet journals would be interesting. What are the similarities and differences? Is there a type of planning that's better done in one versus another? Like, I've discovered that the traditional vertical happy planner is perfect for school planning for me, since I teach 3 blocks each day, and I write my notes for my daily work in those boxes, and use the weekend boxes for things like meetings, to-do lists, etc. And I can move my attendance rosters from one month to the next, or add a paper in when I need to remember to do something with a class. But I'm rubbish at remembering to use a happy planner or pre-printed planner for my actual life outside of teaching. I need a bujo for that. So, something about how different systems can comingle or comparing different systems. If you do open up interviews, that would be a cool way to do it.

Planning "routines" for how/when use your planner/journal, all the variations of to do lists and how to make them useful, deciding what to include (eg. for posterity, functionality, productivity, mental processing, fun) and why, and it would be interesting to hear your take on what/who exactly is "the planner community" and is that a concept that is helpful/unhelpful?

Can't wait for season two! You should start the next episode imitating each others voices for a couple minutes just for giggles. Interviewing a business owner like jojosprettypapershop would be fun. An interview with a parent who uses there bujo for the family as well. I think trying to approach from many different perspectives would be great since you see a lot of the same stuff on online.

I am genderfluid and haven’t subscribed to gender norms in quite a long time at this point. It always makes me happy to see “leaders” in this community really push back against those norms, especially with aesthetics. Thank you for sharing your points of view on this topic specifically. I was put off of my style of bujo for a long time because there are/were so many content creators who identified as female and used stereotypically feminine designs. I also don’t enjoy bujo groups on facebook too much besides Jess’s because of how gendered it is! So many posts start with: hey ladies! And it makes me personally uncomfortable to be consistently left out of the conversation for a hobby that I thoroughly enjoy.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on duplicated information. For example, I do a reading journal, and I have a pie chart for books read, and my new ratings page will also list books read, so that duplicates information but I get different things out of it. Do you struggle with duplication or not care?

Here's my take. There isn't only a small amount of followership or compliments to go around. If I compliment Jess, that doesn't mean I can't also compliment Mark. I think an awful lot of people like for it to be a "competition" for a "small amount of fame." I always told my kids the same thing about grades. There isn't just one A for the whole class (if there is, that teacher needs to be FIRED!!!!!). Just because someone else got one, doesn't mean you won't. Oh, and my first vote is for Harmony! Also, Journal by Design.

I understand Jess' perspective on using AI art for personal use, though I respectfully disagree with it. I personally find joy in supporting local artists in purchasing stickers/stamps, reusable commissioned pieces and things like that.
