Planner thoughts: Hemlock and Oak vs. Hobonichi Cousin English A5

I also have used the Amplified Planner which is excellent, but quarterly, so it ends up being a lot more expensive in the end. Very good planner though, with monthly, weekly, abd daily layouts. Spiral, but it is also available to download and print yourself.

I’ve used Amplify before and enjoyed it when I have a lot of tasks on my to-do list. I’ve seen downsized to the a5 size in hobo since I don’t need such a big planner.

Oh yes they’ve become more popular now and even have a daily planner. They’re still a new company so I’m interested in seeing how they evolve!

Great comparison, thanks. Do you know of any other planners that are all in one monthly, weekly, daily? Also how do gel pens perform on tomoe river paper?

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for watching. Gel pens work well on the paper if you use something 0.4 or under. You do need to wait a while for it to dry, so it takes some patience. Ballpoint works better for me as I don’t worry about smearing but nothing like a fountain pen ink on this paper. Other planners to note: sterling inks new planner but it has “undated dailies” so it’s basically blank pages. Another one is the take a note planner which is a horizontal weekly followed by vertical half daily pages. Any planner that has the entire year of monthly weekly daily probably uses the tomoe river paper bc it’s thin enough to hold hundreds of pages without too much bulk. I haven’t found many others!

Check out The Amplified Planner. Great planner for monthly, weekly, and daily layouts. Spiral, or you can download and print. Quarterly, and it gets expensive because you need four in the year. I have loved it, but am trying a Hobonichi Cousin in English for 2023. 😊
