It this Fine nib stiff or slightly bouncy?

wow that fine writes like a medium. I find these large gold nibs are hair on the wetter side and tend to put more ink down. I have a 742 SF and it writes like a non-gold medium.

Wow I love this! I avoid Hobonichi A5 because I don't need the weekly vertical. This one doesn't have that.

Hello, thank you for the video! I’m sure you’ve used it for quite some time now & experienced with different inks. Would you say it is fountain pen friendly? As in - no bleed through/ feathering with medium/broad nibs or wet pens? How about the shading or sheen? Thank you so much, I really appreciate you making this video!

Great video. Kinda late to the fountain pen hobby. I do agree with you, writing with a fp does improve your handwriting. My handwriting is more consistent and straighter in line. I just bought an Estie Raven in F. Love it! The pilot 823 is next and it will be in M and transparent body. Tq for the video makes me more convince to purchase the 823! 😊

I like your video 😂 and glad that your dislikes are very minor because it is my grail pen. Planning to get it early next year for my birthday. My question is how does stand against scratches. How's yours after years of ownership. Thank you.

Is the pen worth the price? Or should I stick to my twsbi eco’s? I was thinking about getting 823 in a medium nib.

Frank J Smythson made the paper that thin so it could fit in a jacket pocket when he was travelling he started with the Panama diary then made the notebook up until that point diary’s and notebooks were larger and heavy what is nice the new owners have carried on with his designs all these years later, The shops in London are very nice and classy, as someone has said it is pronounced Smythson like skythson but with an M, Great review by the way 😊

Nice collection so far. The 823 is my grail pen, which I’m looking to purchase to celebrate some momentous occasion. I just got two Jinhao 82s yesterday. One rights very well, but the other is a bit finer than I would like, so I’ll have to tune that one. I also have the Muji pen, which very much surprised me on how well it writes and how much ink it seems to hold. It’s currently my journaling pen and one of the best performing pens I own at the moment. If looks like you have yours inked with Iroshizuku Yama-Budo ink, which is what I chose for mine. If you’re ever looking to try another Jinhao pen, I can highly recommend the X159.

I've been eyeing the pilot decimo for quite a while but I was concerned that my pen grip would make the writing experience uncomfortable. Then I saw that you have the same pen grip as I do (thumb over barrel)! I know this video was posted a while ago, but I want to know: how is it? Is it still comfortable to write with for long periods of time?

You should have maybe got a 743. That’s the route I took, since I DO enjoy lots of color changes and the converter version is so much easier to clean.

Jinhao’s nib has no QC at all.. so for that price don’t expect much.. if you don’t know how to adjust tines yourself try to stay away from their EF nibs. I recently bought 8 of jinhao 9019 , 7 EF n 1 F . Out of the 7 EF nib 3 of them have tine aliment issues..

"Posting" is an interesting term used in the pen world. Is the cap riding atop the pen, boots and stirrup? Perhaps there was confusion or anticipation and posting is what we will do with the letter we write? The 823 I have has a stub nib and isn't comfortable as a fine writer, otherwise I would carry it with me. Otherwise, it's a standard ogiva. Filling systems all have their limits and vacuum pens aren't great for ink swaps. I would not use glitter ink in a vac pen. The presentation here was very good.

Nice video! IMO is a shame that Jinhao copy this ways other pens. They are already a known brand and their pens are great, so why not to try to improve the original, or change it in a new way instead of cut&paste?

Hey Plee, if I remember correctly, in a video you shared some planning tips as and ADHDer. As an ADHDer myself, I often struggle with planner/stationery overconsumption. I just keep looking at planners and want to impulsively buy them all, especially at this time of the year. And then comes the guilt of not filling them up. Do you have experience with this? How do you deal with the self-guilting (i.e. leaving the blank pages in Take a note)? How do you find planner peace?

I love this notebook and use it as my daily journal, so I don't need the weekly pages of a Hobonichi Cousin. The wider columns for the calendex / tracker make it more usable than the Hobonichi, I love that there's no quotes taking up space at the bottom of every page, and the paper works well with both fountain pens and watercolor markers. I think this paper dries a little faster than Tomoe River which is an added bonus. The 2023 version had one extra blank spread at the front, next to the the Plan of A New Year with the boxes. They've eliminated that this year and changed the Favorites pages. I think the biggest change in the lineup is that they don't offer a 2-book "avec" style this year. I did get a Kinbor weeks-style as well for 2024, and use that for tracking health and meals; I like the white paper, functional index and more space to write without the quotes in that notebook too.

This is a nice pen, and black is the proper business color. Colors like fusia, pink, green, shady blue, transparent, etc are for kids or youngsters (women like funky colors too). Also, the lacquer finish shows dust easier, but dust is way better than scratches! The most important thing Plee is that you don’t hold the pen properly. Those first two fingers need to be on the side of the pen (for guidance) while the third finger is beneath the pen for supporting it. The way you hold the pen today creates unduly pressure on the nib and will also make your fingers and hand tire faster. Good show!

Hi. I just found this video. I have both the Jinhao 82, and the Sailor Pro Gear Slim. Both in black. I found that the Jinhao steel nib is actually smoother than the 14K Sailor nib. Why is that?

Skip the Con-40. Get a cartridge (either a Pilot/Namiki one or the empty cartridges with plugs by Majohn.) They're easier to clean out and gives you a larger ink capacity.

Why is it pen fangirls (and boys) have such awful penmanship? Strange why someone would spend so much money collecting tools they cannot use with any degree of finesse.

Like it matters. Since the sale is not restricted to only those who write beautifully everyone can use pens😂. The reason beyond your comprehension is that writing with a pen is more effortless and smooth, so for many a fountain pen is a natural choice. And just so you know, we all understand you are a mean, small person, well done!
