I love your videos- so much good knowledge. As I look closely at the USDA recommendations for diet, I cannot help but question the need for dairy at all for a healthy diet. Some studies estimate that more than 65% of the global population is lactose intolerant. Recently Canada just adopted new dietary guidelines where they removed dairy because there wasn't sufficient evidence that dairy provided anything essential to people's diet. In fact, there is evidence that dairy causes more damage, including studies that show increase in risk of bone breaks and osteoporosis correlated to higher dairy consumption. What frustrates me is the influence the dairy industry has in shaping dietary guidelines. Have you thought about dairy and come across studies that show the dangers of dairy? I've come across countless studies that show dairy is NOT necessary and in fact dangerous on many levels. I know your video is four years old, but I wondered, if you are still looking at this account, could you share your new perspective on dairy given new science that has emerged since 2016?

yeah I agree with dairy not being good for you. we are the only mammals that drink milk after infancy. I heard about politicians and government suggesting foods for their own good, to collect money. im not sure if I am right but my anatomy teacher told me you do not receive calcium from milk and that its a myth, you can only receive calcium through bones or non bleached egg shells. I also feel animal products as a whole is toxic, people tend to forget about the hormone cortisol released from the animal when it is dying (stress hormone) and we then ingest that! not good for cholesterol either. I think animal products is why we are dying.

Thank you so much for this playlist! Can you tell if there is a significant difference between edition 13 that you're using and edition 15 that my course suggests? I'm trying to decide whether to buy the textbook. Thank you!

Why do we need refined grains? I thought 100% whole would be better.

Consider the guidelines to mean "at least" 50% of your intake should be from whole grains. These guidelines are based on how we are doing as a population. They are meant to be a realistic recommendation for how the public can create a more balanced diet to better address the body's nutritional needs.
