Even though I have seen these videos before, it was still great to watch again because they reinforced some important ideas on how to create a new bed space that will add to my garden but will also be functional. Also, it’s cool to see how much your garden has grown and filled in in just 4 years.

I started watching about two years ago so this video gave me the opportunity to see how you and Steph turn a blank space into beautiful gardens. I thoroughly loved this video 😊. Merry Christmas to you and Steph and Holly and Griffin 🎄

Thanks for posting this collection of new landscape beds videos. It helps to be reminded of the sequential steps undergone to create such a project, especially the soil preparation phases.

Quite the journey! What's so great about this transformation is how accessible it is - affordable, and do-able over time for so many gardeners. So much knowledge imparted. Look forward to seeing the expansion you're planning.

Wow! I’ve been following for awhile, but it’s SO great to see the starting point to current state all compiled! An amazing transformation in what I’d say is a very short time! And, It underscores the importance of preparation, data & a plan.

Love these time-lapse videos showing beginning and progress year over year. It gives me perspective and hope + excitement for how I want to get rid of lawn and build layers of plants in beds. Thank you so much for documenting this project!

Thank you for this compliation. I have been following your channel for a little less than a year, so the old footage was new to me. The long video was perfect company while I turned the leftover Christmas ham into ham and split pea soup.

So fun seeing how the plans changed as time went on! I remember the front yard re-design but missed the greenhouse and full front porch that never happened. I am amazed at the fabulous growth you get out of your plants. I really need to improve my soil....

The drone shot is so cool. The overhead shot captures the limbs and branches making them appear as veins and arteries running throughout the yard. Great tutorial, Jim! Thank you💚🐛🌻💦☀️

The wooden fence is the part that I find an interesting choice in where you placed it. I suppose you could have placed it next to the street, but then you would have this odd space in-between the Dogwood. What a fun surprise to see that random dogwood become one of your most showiest pieces. The compost part is always fun. Merry Christmas Jim and Steph.

What a great series and an awesome way to wrap up the year! I really enjoyed it. Maybe I missed it, but were the results from the mail-in soil test included in this video? I’d love to know how they compared to the first three pH tests.

That was incredible Jim!!! I have seen much of the footage, but seeing the whole transformation at one time is amazing. I love that you did it around the holidays, and in the winter, so that I have time to watch the whole thing. I have learned sooooo much from you and Stephany. Gardening keeps me sanish!

I don’t think I’ve seen any of these. Got thrown off a bit when I thought you were going to do back corner shade plants next, but you went to the front yard. All good, though. Picked up techniques and ideas that will be useful.

Best honest Jim. Would you do a soil test in your garden if you didn't have a KZbin page? It seems like your style of gardening doesn't care about results of a soil test.
@JimPutnam9 күн бұрын
I think it helps direct the garden potentially. If you find that some plants would struggle in your soil, then they can be avoided.
@fbordon9 күн бұрын
Just out of curiosity, what makes you say his style of gardening doesn’t care about soil tests? If anything, I get the impression that he cares more about the actual soil itself and less about following general consensus or trends than 99.9% of other KZbin channels.
@schultzestrength9 күн бұрын
@fbordon I say this because he is building his soil with compost, wood chips, and leaves. He seems to not be focused on micronutrients and NPK that would require specific additives. To me Jim's way is the better way. I am trying to mimic this in my own garden.
@freedomofreligion32489 күн бұрын
If Jim had an $80 tool that would accomplish soil test for pH, you betcha he would test, HAS TESTED, all of his growing medium if he "didn't have a YT channel". There is NOTHING Jim does differently, regarding horticulture, to "look better" for any social media channel. Gotta know your man!

As you've indicated many times before, you've been doing landscapes for many years. But I wonder, was there a point during the project where you sensed that maybe you bit off a bigger bite than planned? I'm looking at those initial videos you have of the original property, and that old landscape would likely win against me.
