@@CourtAboveTheCutlet’s hope so….i think water, sewage, gas service pipes over the bed of the canal slowed it up somewhat….its going to cost them a few thousand £££ towards the cost of getting them moved with the utility companies….But it seems that the Councils work with and help Litchfield canal trust far more than chesterfield & Derbyshire councils with the Chesterfield canal trust….great to see you supporting them both along with Wobbly runner supporting chesterfield
@CourtAboveTheCutАй бұрын
@ the councils are often a pain for many restorations, most councillors still see a canal as a dirty ditch and are so set in their ways they can’t be open to modern thinking. Out of touch isn’t even the word

The Chesterfield need to get a link down through the Rother Valley to the Don. That would get people using the western end while they sort out bypassing Norwood tunnel.

If the chevrons indicate locks then there used to be a lock between the waterwoks at chesterfield road and back where the canal turns 90degrees heading in its new direction
@CourtAboveTheCutАй бұрын
It was between the pub and car dealership I believe
@keithadams1538Ай бұрын
@@CourtAboveTheCut I used to play in that lock as a kid. The dare was to go down the sluice tunnel from the top of the lock to the bottom. The lock I refer to wasn't where you say. If you go from where the bridge was at chesterfield road heading in the direction of the water works about 50 yards further on was the lock
