It is really crazy scary how looking at it on a calendar really, REALLY shortens your timeline.

Since you said we can try to predict how you do... my prediction is you complete everything except the extra shirtwaist & skirt but still sneak in your bathing costume. Mainly because that is what I would probably do ;)
@sarahmwalsh2 жыл бұрын
Whatever happens, I think you will prioritize the bathing costume over some of the other simpler pieces. Because what the heck, you NEED that bathing costume!!

I am so jealous! I would love to spend a week on PEI dressed in edwardian suits and men's seaside clothes!

This is so helpful for me as I think about my spring / summer wardrobe! My goal is to have a mostly me-made wardrobe for every day life. And I've never been organized about what I need, how many items, and exactly what fabric I'll need. So, thank you!

A quick tip for your beaded overlay. If you aren’t worried about having to alter it later then you can use a set of pliers to crush the beads in the seam allowance. Unfortunately that will still leave you the sequences to contend with but has the benefit of not causing unraveling of the embroidery thread.

Ooh that's a great tip! Thank you!

As a Western Canadian I have only had one opportunity to travel to PEI. I was 15. Cavendish Beach is my most favorite beach I have ever seen in the world. Enjoy your visit. As someone else said, it will be windy. In October it may also be rainy and cold or sunny and warm...perhaps on the same day. Be prepared with layers. You may find your caped, wool suit is suitable for the rainy days. July/Aug are the hot, beachy months. The Canadian Atlantic in Oct is not for swimming.

I do my planning pretty much the same and always plan so that I finish a week before the deadline. Most of the time I'm sewing minutes before I leave out the door 🤣

PEI is beautiful in the summer. A lot of the beaches are a red color and the sea is like a deep green which was kinda mind blowing.

There are actually like 6 different volumes!!! You can't always find them because they go in and out of print, but there are lots of them!

Coming from New England, the water is so cold in September there I can tell you that PEI is only that much colder than the shores of Maine. Swimming would be terribly uncomfortable. I cannot wait to see how everything else works up.

Also there is a reform tea gown dress pattern. Its by La Mode Bagatelle and is called Victorian Artistic Reform Tea Gowns. They have their own website but they are also sold on amazon dry goods. But the pattern is kind of pricey but is very comprehensive.

a trip to PEI? the bibliophile in me is excited for you! at one point in time, i wanted to visit PEI...and dress in period clothes! make like Anne Shirley or Sarah Stanley as I sit beside the sand dunes in a B&B and just enjoy life (seriously, i need to get all the Anne of Green Gables "movies" and the Avonlea series like yesterday!)

I was wondering this exact thing, but given the car crash that my sewing life is right now, I think its reasonable to expect that the best paid plans can go awry. Retro Claude has a rating system for her projects, to scale the volume and finish expectations for herself. Its a good way to take pressure off yourself when setting deadlines.
