Wrestling with the idea of driving in a major city (around five hours' drive one way from home - let alone with a long vehicle (difficult to park on its own) and hauling a trailer as well. I'm used to country roads (nowhere near as much traffic). You are definitely an inspiration. :)

Your a talented lady! How long did it take you to learn to drive with a trailer? Supermarkets used to price match if a product wasn't available. Not sure if it's still a thing! You did look exhausted! The troops unload the car very efficiently! It's a well oiled machine you have! Happy 9k too!

Partially fill the barrels with water. Or put the mushroom compost into them to weigh them down.

They don't open, so we couldn't put solid matters inside them, and partially filling with water is really dangerous because of the way the water moves while driving, and the trailer wouldn't tolerate the weight of all of them full hehe... we made it home, so it all ended up ok! :D

Another mighty effort... no lurgy slowing you down this time. i have retail envy... your enamelled milk urn, swagman's canister has my green eyes greener... 😉 Your hothouse will be a dream... i've just thrown the 10% shadecloth over my polytunnel... it's that warm here.. 19-20 ish overnight, 26-30 ish in the day... as a season extender your hothouse will be the clincher. Being able to potter in rain, bug free, and control your growing environment will be a dream. i had a pavlovian response to the Rocky Point sugarcane... i haul that stuff out by the pallet load in a day at work 😂 Keep pushing Nyssa, the outlay now will pay off for years in your grow spaces❤️

I bought some a while back that had a pour, but they pour out the side instead of the spout, the spout on these definitely looks like one that would be on a jug! FX they work well! :D

Hi Nyssa. You are such a well spoken person. I could actually sit and listen to you talk all day. Congrats on 9K subs! I am with you on the Christmas gifts. I think it is so silly to buy so many gifts for kids at Christmas. I'm not putting anyone down if they do, I just think too many makes a child not appreciate what they get. When I was little, we sure didn't get much for Christmas, but what we did get, I loved. I still remember a lot of what I did get. The food you get from the pantry is great. You sure do get quite a bit for $50. I really like your videos and I appreciate the time you take to share them with us.

I must admit, when the kids were younger and we were more well off, I could easily go overboard, but I always regretted it, I love the simpler existence now, we don't have the space for stuff as such and it makes me be more mindful of what I'm bringing in and hoping that they'll actually use! The hamper is GREAT value, very appreciative of being able to access it! :D

The water pressure at mums is amazing lol. Our water isn't too bad, it is at least warm, but the pressure is low, so when its cold out it is still a bit chilly lol.

We used to cut them in half and use them as animal watering buckets when I was a kid. They will be nice in the garden. I’m excited to see your garden coming along. I have a large raised bed in the backyard that settled about half way this summer and I’m dreading paying for the soil to fill it back up it’s very expensive. Thanks for sharing!

We tried the blue barrels for water a while back for the pigs, but they just trash them lol! Gardening is just so expensive when you dont' have the resources on your property already! I hope that after I establish it this year we can get our composting working better etc and we have to buy less and less inputs in!

I always leave your video until last thing before going to bed because it's nice to hear my own accent before bed (after listening to the rest of the world before breakfast: news and sciencey stuff; and after dinner: comedy and vlogs to relax with). I've also found that (mainly) American KZbinrs (no offense meant, just an observation) seem to have their volume levels up high; so I especially like your calm voice, slower pace and lower volume level before bed. This is on top of your excellent cooking skills, animal wrangling, gardening knowledge, and family wrangling which hooked me in the first place! Looks like you got some bargains in homewares. We had dreadful weather yesterday. Very high winds and rain. We were told to expect up to 110Km winds. Thankfully we didn't get that strength but have a couple of small trees to see if we can save today and plant pot pick up from all over the yard. And today it is sunny and a bit of wind. I think musical instruments is a great idea for Christmas for everyone. Three more shops till Christmas. Good grief!

We did, he just stopped responding, so we let the rego lapse and I took copies of our messenger discussions and the bank transaction etc to QLD Transport and they let us register it, thankfully! I hit a bit of a storm on the drive back after the servo! The wind was really high! I think the musical instruments will work! They want them, but they're also practical that is always what I like, and then Ill buy them some cheap small novelty stuff too heh :D

Your mum is amazing for hosting you. I hope d and s have an amazing time at comic con. It doesn’t matter about what plates or cups you use. If not, it’s an early family present to allow them to eat all the amazing food you feed them. You could refill the Aldi rice milk containers when empty with the other rice milk or just allow the twin with autism to just use the Aldi milk etc.

Mum really enjoys having me there, we only see each other every 6-12 months otherwise, so this new routine is great, and whilst she's pooped by the end of the costco trip, she doesn't get out much either lol, she goes to work 4 days a week and other than that sits at home, by choice, so its good for her too hehe :D I hesitate to use the old rice milk containers because they'd be so hard to make sure they're clean with only that little tiny pouring spout to clean through :S. But Orpheus seems to have tolerated the change this month well! There hasn't been a meltdown over it like last time I brought home the wrong ones.

I read a lot of really easy reading stuff lately, I enjoy reading all sorts of things, but at this point of my life lol, I like simple to read, characters to get engaged in and 'fluffy'. I read a lot of sci-fi / fantasy, with the snarky heroes/heroines and just minimal thought required but escapeism :D

I've thought about that, but getting the old one clean is the issue, its got a tiny little opening and you cant see inside, so if you emptied and refilled straight away, maybe, but you couldn't hold them for long :)

😮 ooo yeah! I've been watching your subscriber count. I've been waiting to celebrate with you! Gosh what a great fruit and veg haul. I sorry the rice milk and sugar were kind of a drag. I have a great Nephew who is Autistic. Eric is 20 years old now. I think it does get a little easier with time. I love the barrel score. We have some small ones like that with lids. We store cat food in some in the basement. 😅 They are sturdy and useful. I have to say you are looking so beautiful, bright and happy. Just noticeably bubbly and happy. We have some of the smaller ones for chook food too! They work really well. These ones the lids don't come off they only have bungs, hence being cheaper, but will work well for what were after for them! :D

I suggest making rice milk from scratch and mixing it with the packaged stuff then slowly decrease the packaged rice milk till your kids get use to the homemade rice milk. It will take a bit to do but it would save you $$$ if you can get them to drink homemade rice milk.

I didn't know one of your children is autistic my son is autistic he is 19 and they are very funny when it comes to packaging and brands my son is very particular but was extremely particular as a kid for 6 years he only ate bologna, canned green beans, cubes of cheese, sliced grapes, cubes of chicken and diced apples everything had to be cut into square funny thing my other 2 kids ate the same things as there brother pretty much the first 6 years of life that was all they would it made for easy grocery shopping. I always struggle with the UHT containers, they're not easy to clean or store to keep to refill kinda thing! I don’t see how you do these marathon shopping trips. It would take me days, if not weeks, to recover. Thanks for sharing them with us. Can’t wait to see the grocery haul. As far as having to buy a different brand of ice milk, maybe save an empty carton or two of the ones you always buy and refill with the different brand one. That way your son will still the usual package and not the new one. I completely understand how that goes. I have custody’s of four of my grandchildren and two of them have global developmental delays as well as autism and sensory processing and OCD. My 16yo has gotten a little better about changes in plans and being a bit more flexible. It has been a struggle. My just turned 9yo is super picky about what he eats and o YL eats a handful of things. He loves chicken nuggets and it has to be a certain brand, although he will change brands every few months. He is branching out a teeny bit. I got him to at least try spaghetti noodles tonight and he is now eating pears, apples, and canteloupe with tons of encouragement and some coaxing. It’s definitely a struggle. I am blessed to have wonderful OT and speech therapists that have helped so much. I hope you have been able to rest since returning home.

There’s never huge amounts avail, Aldi doesn’t have more than a days worth of stock, so they rarely have more than 24 at max on a shelf per day! And none out the back, so I’m used to having to go to two aldis but Urgh! Worse this month lol. I wish I could get the kids to use some thing else but they just prefer rice milk!

There’s a few ways to make it and I have made it quite a few different times but the kids really aren’t enamoured of it :s. We’ve replaced it in most things, use cows milk for yoghurt now, almond milk or coconut milk for hot choc/custards/baking etc. but they just really like the rice milk with wheatbix/rice bubbles and cornflakes!

I hesitate to use the old milk containers, because they only have that little pouring spout for you to use to clean them out kinda thing, I worry that I couldn't possibly get them clean enough to reuse, maybe if it was just emptied and refilled, yes, but to store it empty for a period, I dunno! :D. But I've been pleasantly surprised, Orpheus hasn't seemed to have an issue with the new packaging this month! Last time I had to do it it was a massive meltdown issue for weeks, but he seems to have tolerated it this month! yay for progress :D

I haven't tried that one actually, but I think they have very different flavour profiles, the almond milk they like with the things like granola, which has almonds and stuff in it anyway, the rice milk with their standard plain cereals, like rice bubbles/cornflakes/wheat bix, I think that they just don't work for them, I'm sure if I forced it they'd get used to it, and I kinda do, once the rice milk runs out, they have to tolerate whatever I make lol.

Definitely, towards the end of the month I regularly get someone else to put a meal together, it is probably food I have cooked earlier in the month, but I don't have to physically cook it that day, which is always nice! Whether it is meat I have previously cooked and frozen and they cook it up or jars of soup etc that I have canned that they heat. Though I suppose I probably cook 'something' every day, whether its bread or a cake or a side of some sort lol, but I definitely have lazy days :D

I have tried both, neither were accepted very well for their standard cereal, they are happy with alternatives for granola, or porridge or smoothies etc, but their basic cereal, they just like this pre packaged rice milk!
