What a great opportunity for those interested in purchasing the Air3. Serious videographers need this info. I'm just a casual flyer, and learning how to make better videos. I think my last post was my best. I'm not a beginner. I just fly like one! LOL Nice to see you back in action helping others.

I have had a mavic pro, mavic 2, mavic 3 classic, and they all connected to my laptop with a usb to usb c cable.

I think a lot of folks are in your shoes. DJI puts out incremental updates, it appears, and many people don't see the improvements as justifying the price increase.

I am using win 10. Like I said it works with usb c to usb c, because I have a thunderbolt port on my laptop. My friend does not , and will have to use usb to usb c.

He should be fine. I just plugged into my notebook's USB port and put the USBC end into the drone. With the drone powered off it opened up to show the internal storage drive. I booted up the drone and it showed both internal and external storage.

I can't get my laptop to recognize my dji air 3 when I use a usb to usb c cable. Can you explain why?

hmmmm . . . the answer is, no I don't KNOW why but I might be able to guess at some things. It could well be that a driver hasn't been been released for the Air 3 - it is a new device, and computer connection isn't a very high priority from DJI's perspective. Are you telling me that when you connect the drone (powered up) to your notebook, that it doesn't show up as a device in Windows Explorer? I must admit I haven't tried this in a few years - what are you trying to do when you connect the two? Transfer files?

I have a top of the line HP laptop, but when I try to connect it to my air 3 to download videos, it doesn't show up. I have a thunderbolt port that I can connect to usb c to usb c and get them. I have a friend that wants a air 3 but if he can't use usb to usb c he won;t buy it. I am trying to help him out. So any help would be grateful.

OK, I set up my air 3, connected it to the computer and even when the drone was powered down, Explorer opened up and I could see the internal storage. I booted up the drone and both internal and external showed up in separate explorer windows. DJI suggested you test your system with a different cable. It worked perfectly for me.
