Great video! And a very serious offense if caught by immigration officials with this requirement undone. With all the excitement & emotions of a first time visit…many travelers forget this requirement & how serious immigration is about ending your stay. Thanks for such a great reminder to add this expense into the budget!!

Do it! I just got back in December. I think December is the best time to go as it is Spring weather there. The flight will be the most aggravating. Get ready! I flew from Dallas to Montreal to Belgium to Banjul. 4 hr layover in Belgium. But it was needed! Next trip will be business or 1st class. I stayed for 10 days. Next trip will be no less than 15. You may be inclined to over pack. Don't. I recommend diaper wipes (it's dusty - to freshen up face and feet). Buy bottled water while there. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. No traffic laws. That's hilarious. Lots of unpaved roads so factor in travel time when planning activities. It's a cash society! Plan on how you will exchange American money for Dolosi. It's a haggle society! Don't be offended. :)

Thank you sister for the info but I was told I cannot drive with my American License unless I have an international driving pass, not sure why but the immigration office and a police officer told me this so I am confused lol 😆 I thought you can drive with a License for 90 days as well.
@thehungrymom Жыл бұрын
Yes you can Sis, trust me. We were told the same thing also if we want to change to Gambian it needs to be international but we got our Gambian license no questions ask, and we went to the office itself it was not done by someone inside.. You can rent a car with no problems so I'd think it's the same. Hope it worked out for you Sis?!

The Gambia Immigration Department has several regional offices throughout the country where you may also be able to renew your Alien Resident Card. These regional offices are located in the following locations: 1. Basse Immigration Office - Upper River Region 2. Bansang Immigration Office - Central River Region 3. Farafenni Immigration Office - North Bank Region 4. Janjanbureh Immigration Office - Central River Region 5. Kanifing Immigration Office - Kanifing Municipal Council 6. Kerewan Immigration Office - North Bank Region 7. Kuntaur Immigration Office - Central River Region However, it is important to note that not all of these offices may be able to process Alien Resident Card renewals, so it is best to contact the specific office in advance to confirm whether or not they can assist you with your renewal.

How much cost the Road Clearance Stickers?
@thehungrymom Жыл бұрын
The Road clearance Sticker is D1500 plus D100 for the form so D1600 Total. Thanks for watching 👏🏾

All that seems to be such a hassle...lol! Is it worth it? I want to move to the continent but the constant process of renewing documents seems a bit excessive...currently my sister and her husband are getting a house built in Taft City... it's supposed to be a smart city.
@thehungrymom Жыл бұрын
It's not that bad though 😁 compared to paperwork in the west. Taxes, and all that, constant bills compared to that it's a breeze here. It's a good thing it expires in the same month so you take care of everything in December or January and that's it. It's definitely worth it!💯

Wait so you have to travel with your passport and documents?
@thehungrymom Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily passport but your Resident permits. We were stopped at a checkpoint and asked for resident permit once before we had it and we just told them we had just gotten to the Gambia so we don't have it and they allowed us to go. Second time we had it so we showed it, that's at Senegambia Strip, a tourist area. Third time yes we just showed it, so yes we always have the Resident and Alien Card with us
@judechinedu2497 Жыл бұрын
Hello mummy, please how much is the total cost to get a resident permit in the Gambia?
@thehungrymom Жыл бұрын
Hello my Dear, The total now is D7700, that's for a Class B Non Ecowas, which is Us the Diaspora. There are different Classes. The amount split between the Resident Card and Alien Card that you'll need to do business or work.
@njeriassata7541 Жыл бұрын
So you can be stopped by an immigration official, even if, not driving?
@thehungrymom Жыл бұрын
Good question, I'm not sure if they'll stop you when you're on foot. At some checkpoints like Senegambia Strip, there are immigration officers, who will ask for papers. You don't get stopped by immigration officers as much though. Since we've been here a year & a half maybe 3 times for us but we were driving.
@United-States-of-Africa10 ай бұрын
That's very costly and inconvenient. With all them dirt roads and poor infrastructure it's a money grab to renew so shortly. Plus they have a check point every 2 miles with a annoying traffic police looking for the smallest things to get D100. 🙄 Jamaica have so much crime but less police checkpoints.
@thehungrymom9 ай бұрын
It is costly, it's crazy

Stay the hell in Jamaica! Nobody is damn forcing you to move to the Gambia or even visit. Your comment is unnecessary and it will not stop others from visiting or moving to the Gambia
