I think purging plants is a fantastic thing to do. Especially if you are not getting joy out of the plant or you have exceeded your capacity for care. Being overwhelmed, stressed is the exact opposite of what the plant hobby should bring. 😊 you rock!

Hey Kevin! I use mosquito dunks sometimes! (When I remember!) But I really just don't even know how effective it is. I make a mosquito dunk tea (cut into quarters and use one in a 2L jug of water). I guess it can't hurt! Also, don't feel like you can't declutter or thin your collection! I'm sure the majority of your subscribers would rather see you happy! Your mental health and keeping your hobby fun is what matters most! I'm currently working on decluttering my collection because nutrient day was literally taking 6 hours! And I started losing my plont joy and began dreading it. Hi from Alberta! 🇨🇦💚🌱

Kevin! I'm so happy you covered transferring orchids from moss. I feel like I can't get the watering down in moss and you gave me the confidence to experiment. Thank you! I use nematodes in all my substrates. I started last summer (2021). At first I was just adding them to soil substrate but in the spring I started adding them to all substrates and I have to tell you - I've not had one fungus gnat this year and that's a big deal for me! I use NemaKnights brand but the thing I do differently to you (I think) is I cover them in moss (Just a light layer) that I keep moist for about 5 days. I find it easier to keep the moss moist without drenching the substrate (if that makes sense). The nematodes will only take care of eggs in the substrate, so you need something to get rid of the adults (sticky traps even although I hate them). The only other thing I think is worth noting, if you use other beneficial insects (I do), they will munch on the nematodes if there isn't another food source. I kinda like the idea extending the life of my beneficials by giving them a regular food source in the nematodes, but something to consider when you think how frequently you reapply.

That snick sound of the shears really is satisfying. I like how everybody prefers something a little different with their plants - the trellis looked really pretty, but so does the more compact one. Thanks for showing us both so we could see the difference, it helps give you ideas for your own plants. 🪴

I´ve watched 20 of your Plant Chores videos so far, think I only have 3 left 😳 Yes I´m proud of it #SUPERFAN 🤣😍😍 No but seriously, you are the sweetest person ever! You seem so humble and I really like when you talk about stuff like feeling the pressure of keeping plants and so on. The amount of plants that you have is insane (in a good way) and I think I can speak for all of us die hard fans that we understand if you sell some of them or give them away 💚 You should only have plants that brings you joy 🥰

Getting a sundew has been the best investment I've made for the fungus gnats, honestly! You get another plant and it feeds on the annoying gnats and grows like crazy (the blooms are also so delicate and beautiful too!), so it's a win-win situation 🤷♀️

Also I cut my spikes as soon as it’s done blooming even if it’s still green. It’ll promote lead and root growth as opposed to it trying to force a few extra flowers out. Some hybrid phals just keep blooming and blooming and that can stress it out too

The only pest I ever have are fungus gnats, about every spring when it gets warm and they come out. But, I deal with teh adults with yellow stick traps across the pot cuz they crawl and shake Mosquito bits in my spray bottle so the bacteria spreads in the water and drencht eh soil to interupt the larvae feeding. I do this for about two times, two weeks between. and the rest of the year I have no issues. Do NOT lay them on the surface cuz its gonna get moldy AF lol

I had an unbelievably bad infestation of fungus gnats about 2 years ago. I started using mosquito dunks and I bought mosquito traps, blue light and fan, I out yellow stickies in the trap and I hardly ever see fungus gnats now. I put half a dunk in every watering can and one in my nutrient solution. Swear by them. Thanks for always brightening my day 😘😍 💚💚💚

Ive used mosquito bits when my fungus gnat problem was so bad and it helped a LOT LOT, it essentially kills all the larvae! I used it with the sticky traps to kill the mature gnats so they wont lay more eggs and it did wonders! i highly recommend it nice outfit in this video btw! :D

Gnatrol was my saving grace against fungus gnats. I tried every technique/product recommended online with varying results but nothing would completely eradicate them. Finally heard about Gnatrol, ordered it from Ebay, and have been fungus gnat free ever since. Because it only kills the larva (not the adults) it takes a few watering cycles to completely eliminate them but it really, REALLY works!
