Interesting video, Glad I went the route I did based on your experience. I made my tags from aluminum soda cans then just used a hole punch. So far they have held up very good, Best part is it was free.

In case anyone else goes to Amazon for the metal tags: I remember these tags, double-sided. I just bought tags from Amazon and they're one-sided and very difficult to write on. You have to REALLY press hard. The old ones were softer with the double layers. Thanks.

also another option you can find blinds for free anywhere cut to desired length an just pencil lasts years…. I like to use hori to make hole initially to help slide in

I had a hard time bending the stake. I drilled a small hole in a 3/4” pipe and wrapped it around the pipe. Very easy. Then put the tag right on the stake.

Just skip the wire all together and work the tag around on the insulation spike

If anyone making their own labels doesn't want to buy insulation hooks, you can use coat hangers.

Share away! I'm working on another video I'll be posting later this summer. The metal tags work great for permanent plants but it is a waste for my annuals, temporary plants or nursery plants. I'm testing several other tag options out. I started in the late summer of last year. Keep an eye out for the video in the summer of 2021.

@@greatescapefarms Thanks so much. We actually use these tags at my work to label drops in a Pedestal or on a aerial Tap. I work at a communication company or a ISP rather. I can’t believe I didn’t think to use these myself lol. Can’t wait to see what else you come up with. I got some ideas as well on what to use.

It's kind of annoying to pay so much. It's just aluminium. I have had 2 different types of plastic tags that only lasted 12 months. But it's kind of weird some older plastic tags in my plants Are years old and still fine. I think the plastic is shit now. Aluminium is only about $1 a kilo it seems a lot to pay for plant tags. I need 400 tags.

Wow, 400 is a lot. If these are for plants that are will not be moving and you want permanent tags, your best bet may be the expensive aluminum ones.
