So weird you just made this video today!! I’ve literally just found mealy bugs on my seedling cactus today 😯 googled it and I’ve made a dish soap spray but I’m ordering some rubbing alcohol too! I also had the fungus gnats on one of my bonsai and that was the first type of bug and now the mealy bugs. Twice your videos have been relevant to me at that particular moment, thank you for all your videos and sharing your knowledge , I love my plants and we appreciate you 🙌🏼

I have zero houseplants (i'm an outdoor gardener) but took in a whole bunch of videos yesterday following a request to buy a houseplant for my dad (who has dementia), and boy oh boy I have been surprised by the level of care needed to make it a success. I thought you knocked it out of the park with this video which provides the more holistic needs of looking after plants in order to be successful, really impressed ....the whole quarenteening business makes perfect sense but there is definately initial shock about how seriously you have to take bringing any plant into your home. Keep up the good work dude ...

Thank you for again a great video! I use a hairdresser continuous mister for my plants. It produces a stream of sustained mist that lasts a few seconds, allowing large areas to be covered quickly and easily. Besides, the ergonomic design reduces hand fatigue compared to traditional trigger and fingertip sprayers. For propagation, I re-use the dishwasher resistant take-away white boxes with a clear lid from restaurants. I fill them with moist sphagnum moss. The closing with a lid causes a warm and moist environment and causes faster rooting. It works great and makes the transition for the new roots to soil a lot easier.

I've found bamboo skewers to be more accurate than either of my moisture meters. If there's soil on the skewer when you pull it out of the pot you know the plant doesn't need water. If the skewer comes out of the pot without any soil stuck then you need to water. It has helped me a lot. I use mason jars and vases to propagate plants. I think cleae plastic saucers also come in handy. I use them as saucers and I also fill them with soil in order to propagate succulents. I currently have jade and a gasteria sitting in the soil to root them I'll transfer them to small ceramic pots.

Love all the content Crazy Plant Guy! I’m a relatively new plant parent, but I got a pro tip from a grower who raises bonsai. He sent me a metal chop stick with a round end! It’s been such a helpful tool... so much so that I bought more. I use them to aerate the soil (mimicking the work of worms) if I’m concerned about moisture levels, to stake up little propagations, to help inspect leaves for compact plants where your hands may damage the foliage. They’re readily available and super great :P

I always felt I was opposite of a green thumb. I’ve had a succulent & a sad looking bamboo for a few years that I’ve managed not to kill. My daughter and son-in-law had to move from Southern California to New York about a month into the quarantine & didn’t have room for all of her plants, so she left them with me😂 She bought me a meter just like you have & it’s been life changing! She left 10 plants, including one that she was going to throw away, saying it was dead (it’s alive!!). I have also bought 2 of my own since. I think I probably drowned my previous plants. Can you please do a video on how to actually treat bacteria on a plant. I saw the items listed but don’t know how to do ht

Christian, how dry on my meter do I wait to water plants that say like to dry out before watering I find waiting till it reads 0-1 is much too dry. Calathea for instance do I water when it just starts hitting red 3? This can be confusing 😆 also humidity level in my home is only 45-50% right now in the summer. And I have my humidifier running. I’m hoping to purchase the levoit but dang it’s costly. I find my humidifier runs constantly and I’m not able to get it higher.

Gardening was my new years resolution and then the quarantine happened so I was ever so slightly ahead of the pack. Now my brother sends me screenshots from reddit asking me if I know what this is and where he can get one

Thank you so much for your helpful videos! A friend of mine said she uses aspirin and (I think) Vitamin B 12 in her houseplants. I'm not sure how she uses them. Do you use these?

Can it be any hydrogen peroxide? Or a certain kind? Also what does it mean if leaves start falling off plants? Im wanting the HP for my watermelon peperomia cuz i think she might have root rot but recently a smaller leaf fell from my monstera deliciosa as well? He has a tiny yellow leaf at the bottom as well. Those are the 2 plants i cant really figure out whats wrong. My monstera is growing 3-4 new leaves though so im wondering if the fallen one is going to cause any harm to the coming growth it has?

What group is the plant swap through? I’ve been to a few here in Durham, and some in Markham, I’d totally be interested in meeting some new plant friends in the city!

No group yet, was just thinking a few should come up soon as the city opens up.
