What are the substances that are released by the sugar beet root that cause the cyst to hatch?

It is not completely known. But Lauric and Tannic acids, other similar organic acids are involved. Many roots may stimulate hatching while only some allow the nematode to establish the feeding site. Those roots are called nematode traps because they deplete the inoculum.
