Glad that this video helps, garden prep is an important process to enrich and build the soil's health. It does take some work, but it's worth it😊💚

I started doing chop and drop last year but after watching your video I’m going to add a layer of leaf mulch on top. Love your video.

This year I'm experimenting with tossing in some alfalfa pellets? This seems to jumpstart decomposition? Inspirational, dear gardener friend,

Seeing you clean up after harvesting to prepare for the new crop means you have had a bountiful harvest. Having a small garden is wonderful, isn't it?

So much to learn just from this one video! What an amazing setup! You are very handy with wood too. everything is beautiful. I chop n drop too but I'm getting older so my hands cant take all the cutting anymore so I let my chickens chop it up then I scoop and apply to the beds.

Hi there, thank you for this great info 😍👍🏼 do you pull out the roots of the dead plants, then chop them and put them on top? Couldnt really tell if you are leaving the roots in?! Thank so much in advance 😊

Lovely garden, I love how much texture and variety it has-raised beds, containers, planter boxes trellises etc. much like a patchwork quilt. On the issue of excluding diseased plants from chop and drop, I would suggest that the mildewed Cucurbit could be added to the beds without issue. When it comes to fungal diseases the spores are already ever present in the surrounding environment and they tend to be opportunistic in that they don’t adversely effect healthy plants so much as they take hold on plants that are already stressed for other reasons such as water stress, poorly adapted varieties to local soil and or environmental conditions, etc. With the two factors in mind I believe there is more benefit to be had from returning to biomass to the soil than there is detriment to be caused by the fungal spores they contain. The only diseased plants I worry about excluding are those with viral diseases such as mosaic viruses.

Your videos are a pleasure to watch and very informative. How do you get such a high yield of product? My garden is mainly many self watering 20gal tubs and they are productive but not quite as much as I’d like. My soil is miracle gro garden soil that I amend year after year. Any ideas? I am also in a colder temp area in the northeast. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Question: why do you put the netting over your garden bed after applying the leaf mould?
@plantedinthegarden
@plantedinthegarden Жыл бұрын
We put it because to prevent leaves from blowing away, but mostly prevent squirrels from digging and planting black walnut seeds.
