We had a rural homestead in France and our summer jobs always included stacking the winter wood away from the rain near to the house…. Lots of airflow but covered once the hot days had gone. We also made fire bombs. Two sheet of paper or light card, dry kindling and dry moss inside. All tucked into a basket kept inside. Two under the kindling each time we lit the fire, worked a treat. Your place is really coming along, so much hard work. X

And yes, read Bill Molison's book, Permaculture Design, about the holding landscape of the water balance, water is pouring on the slope and a lot of it and if it is correctly directed along the garden, and slow down its movement, you will get a great result, well done people have made organic boxes for warm beds

As you are just starting with the barn conversion, you probably know but please do not use cement based products on the walls. Cement blocks water and does not allow the walls to breath. As you probably have a lot of humidity in the soil around and under the house this would very likely cause mold problems inside the house. Use loam based products for the walls inside and outside only.
@Diego_Leon3 жыл бұрын
Yes! Thank you for your tips, this barn need to breath, we use Lime morter!

Happy New Year! Good luck with your fruit trees, I hope that you have given them enough room to grow, especially the apple trees planted along the fence line and that you can create water "basins" to hold the water around them, as opposed to letting the water run down the hill. Peter.

Please put tree stem protection on the stems, you will regret it if you don't. If you don't want to spend the money you can put thorny branches around the bottom 50 better 60cm against rabbits (not mice though) or similar animals eating the bark, they WILL come and eat the bark if you don't ! If deer jumps over your fence you need higher (and wider) protection (150cm min). Good luck !

Hello from Moscow! subscribed to your channel, made a like. If you are engaged in organic agriculture, take care of collecting rainwater near the beds, slowing down its movement and collecting it in the lowlands before the beds on the slopes. And yes, acquire the mycelium of mushrooms Hanging or Shitaki and inoculate on hemp in shady areas where it is wet, and you will collect your mushrooms in the garden.
