Can't wait for a 20 foot tall hedge that blocks out all the sunlight 🤔😁

Our of curiosity (I know its only been ~10 months) how much have these grown in that time? Thinking of planting a Leyland boundary hedge between the garden and a field and curious how quickly it will...bush out :D

Perfect time of year to save having to water so much 👌 I did over water mine a tad so go careful. Also, a drip hose is priceless 👍

About to start on doing this on an acre of land with no trees...This is helpful. I think I will go with 6fters in the front for an instant privacy hedge and some of these smallers for the sides. appreciate the tips mate.

Mine are taking longer to grow than expected so I would go taller next time 👍

Thanks for the vid and great work. I planted 45 of these round my perimeter around 6 months ago but the ones I bought were in 20l bags and were 5-6ft tal. I’m getting puzzled on if I should be giving them a trim on the sides now as there budding and starting off again. Any of your knowledge and plans for yours would be appreciated

Thank you 👍 Hard work isn't it?! Depends how wide you want your hedge to grow. I'm aiming for hedge thickness of 60-80cm wide so will trim once or twice a year with that in mind. I believe always trimming to the same thickness will train the hedge grow thick and full at your desired width. If I were you I'd be trimming at 6 months if they're looking a bit untidy, depending on your end goal. I'm planning on trimming these at the end of summer

All still knee high to a grasshopper 😂 Seriously, the tallest is now 6ft, average is probably about 1ft growth, they should have all grown strong roots last year so I'm hoping this spring and summer they'll rocket up. They haven't really filled out yet either... Interestingly, the ones sheltered more from the wind and rain have taken off whereas, the more exposed have been slow.

I have a small garden at the front of my house. The soil is hard it’s hard to dig there was a bush in there before many years ago but they took it out if I do this it would fit about 2 bush trees width and maybe 4 along the front I want this for privacy. Do I need to put different soil down?
@froywhernside

I would turn the soil as much as possible to get air into it, make sure all the roots are removed from the old bush and then mix in some fresh top soil or compost to give them the bast chance

Not yet, only one is starting to get wide enough to start to need a trim. Aiming for about 1m thick hedge I think

@@froywhernside I planted some last year also but I've planted them right up against the fence. Thinking I better dig them out and move them 2-3ft away from the fence

@@del8224 you can plant them closer than 3 feet, 18 inches is minimum, we don't all have huge gardens and many people just want a privacy screen.
