I had a paragraph of 'Wow' perfect planting area that I needed ideas for. But what I really want to say is you have some really nice 'gams' !!! and Jenny take care to not get too much sun right above the knee. I had some really great ones too, but the crepey skin above the knee makes it look like 'old lady skin.' And don't think or say in your southern charming way 'oh I bet your legs and skin look fantastic.' Yes they do if I were 80 yo, but I'm 50 and spent years without taking care of my skin (all in Oregon), especially skin that felt like leather from time after working in the sun. Girl, not dissing you in any way nor pushing any product, just do what I didn't do...save your skin that gets a lot of sun, even if sun screen feels icky or wear longer shorts (when not on camera : ) and you will look your youthful self for much longer. Maybe that's why Mimi wears long pants (skinny legs and too much sun damage same as mine) Love your's & Jerry's interaction together, Thanks for letting me share even though you may not ever see this comment, maybe some other younger beautiful legged gals will : D

I also fill the hole with water first when I'm planting in the summer or planting anything large. That's my mantra this year as well, just keep them alive. lol I've added so many new plants this summer, more than I normally do in the hot months so, it's water, water, water. It's all going to fill in and be glorious, well done!

Living in central Georgia has its challenges. One solution will be a rain garden to catch roof runoff. Let the water perculate and put in a solar powered water well near by to make it a permanent pond using the earth as a storage buffer, then irrigate near by plants as well. 36,000 gallons of water per year from a modest home roof runoff is a lot to use for this. I just thought you might like this idea yourself to consider.

That tree is just perfect for that area. It allows you to have shade and sun plants in the same bed. Of course under the tree is shade, but sun around the edges. Glorious garden!

Jenny and Mimi, I loved watching how fabulously you work together! You make a great mother-daughter planting tag team! That area underneath the Forest Pansy redbud tree is huge. Persian Shield plants are beautiful and will add so much to that bed once they fill out a bit. Are they perennial in your zone? I have to grow them as annuals, here and there in my planters. I hope those few plants that are struggling decide to live and start putting on new growth soon. Your patio area is looking gorgeous, and mulch adds the perfect finishing touch to your garden beds. Jenny and Jerry, I hope you enjoy your much-deserved getaway. ~Margie

Great southern gal…hands in the dirt and beautiful while doing so... Thanks for the instruction. N GA mountains, here. I have to contend with clay/sandy soil but with added rocks and rock plus roots. Heat/humidity not so bad if one lived in mid ga in chattahoochie valley. Thought your auger would help my 67 yr hands but sweetie said no. Too many rocks. I just love the south and all the things we can grow here. TY.

I love these long videos showing your creative thought process. That 'Little Quickfire' has me thinking I need to make more space for my 'Quickfire' if that's the footprint the little one makes. I've just been waiting for the delphiniums to finish their bloom cycle so I can rearrange them and plant my hydrangea. Ugh! Japanese beetles. They decimated my dwarf apple tree, but that's distracting them from my newly planted roses. I'm headed out for more mulch. Guess I'll add Rose Rx to the list. Or whatever organic spray I can apply to roses. I agree, plant with the future in mind. Pockets are where annuals go. I hope you'll update us on your Ohio trip.
