FYI, use your name tags from pots to put in with plants in order to always know what you planted!! Beautiful garden that took alot of time & "elbow grease"!! I used to love doing the same thing when I was much younger and miss it greatly😥!!

I just love your "lunchtime gardening". Great advice...one step at a time and it all gets done! I work third shift so in the morning when I get home I work in the garden for awhlile before I go to sleep. It is very soothing and stress relieving!

Your landscape is beautiful! Tip from a Master Gardener in Georgia. Roses need at least six hours of sun to do well and grow. I noticed that particular area where you had the roses planted was shady. So plant your roses in a sunny spot in your landscape. Will keep watching your improvements to your yard. Thanks

Your garden is beautiful! What a serene place. I would suggest that you make your own hummingbird food. 1 part sugar to 4 parts water. The red dye kills the hummingbirds. Clear only. Can't wait to watch more!

My friend had wild bunnies. Same plant 20 feet apart, one was smaller, the other had bunny volunteer poop piles fertilizing it. Amazing results.

I tell ya, Jes, your garden is so colorful you don’t even need annuals. Sure wish I had more dappled shade, I would fill it with hosta & heuchera. ❤

The secret to roses is the knobby part at the base of the shrub must get 6 hours sunlight. In winter mound the mulch high over it. Most of us plant too deep or block the knobby (graft area) part from the sun with mulch. Also, clip deadheads off just above a pattern of 5 leaves and that help sprout new blooms. Last...water at the ground level. Try not to let the leaves get wet to help prevent black spot....that is dang near impossible...yet noteworthy.

You could try hanging some weights - rocks maybe? - on the ends of the branches on your cherry tree. That may help them to hang down a bit lower at the top. It is common practice. Some people yield them down with tent pegs for a season.

Jes…I have Jackmanii and Nelly Moser planted on the same trellis…planted them about 3-4 years ago in 4 hours of direct Sun…they are amazing…so thick they almost want to tip over the trellis! Here is a tip…they are heavy feeders, so each spring, I give them about 6 cups of composted manure and mix it in with the soil….oh, my they LOVE it!

This is such a good reminder. One thing at a time. Last night I had errands to run after work. When I got home it was still light out so before I even unlocked the door to go in, I took the trash to the curb, grabbed my garden gloves and shovel and popped a couple dahlia tubers that I bought on a whim from Lowe’s in the ground. As well as 2 potted hyacinths that needed to get in the ground. Took maybe 10 minutes. Went in the house and finished up a couple of other chores. Feels good.

Just LOVE the sound of the breeze rustling through the trees in your gully. That cherry tree will reward you next year with some blooms. Give it a feed, too, and the clematis 🥰🌸🪻🌻🌺

Roses do love a lot of sun. Any plant which isn’t doing well in an area needs moving. Sometimes it may be something in the soil affecting its growth.

I don't think I have ever seen the side of the yard where you planted the grass, hmmm....more possibilities 😉 In reference to the lack of blooms on the weeping cherry...I have a dogwood that got only a few blooms on it last year, this year it was in full beautiful bloom, such a mystery...I guess it just needed a year off 🤣😂

My weeping cherry tree didn’t bloom last year. This year it was beautiful. I think mine not blooming last year was due to frost, but this year there was no frost damage. Same with my magnolia tree. 👍🏼 I planted a climbing rose three years ago, this is third year. They say first year they sleep, second year they creep and third year they leap. This year I have blooms. So there’s hope. 🩵🫶🏼

I have found that my flowering trees will flower with abundance one year and the following year not so much. Then the following year flower with abundance again. I just love your gully and I'm amazed at how far ahead your plants are than mine here in western New York. A little tid bit as far as the roses go....they like water but not wet feet. Definitely need a good six hours of sun light.Morning sun the best. At least that's what I've found in my garden. 💕🌺🌼🌻🌸🏵

Wrap chicken wire around the base of the clematis. Will be cheaper than spraying and it is still protected if you forget to spray. Wrap it high enough incase the stand up. Good luck. It is all looking good. I enjoy watching you.
