I would trim the limbs up on sides of plot so it gets more sunlight and less shade it would of prolly done best if u planted on one side all the way to middle and drove on edge instead of through middle due to middle getting more light , either way looked great !

This video was from at least 3-5 years ago and the clover is starting to get patchy but some is still there. I wanted to leave the middle grass because this time of year clover fields are just walking up and are really muddy, grass you can drive on still.

But this will only last till about mid October to November correct?
@wisconsinwhitetail97442 жыл бұрын
The alfalfa and clover only lasts as a green attraction until around mid to late November. Until we start getting some seriously cold nights to frost out the clover and alfalfa. Like 15-20 and below.

For this plot do you do a soil test or fertilizer or lime?
@wisconsinwhitetail97446 жыл бұрын
No, we did not do a soil test and we didn’t lime or spread fertilizer. I’m sure our soil isn’t a perfect 7.0 ph but it grew well. The only areas we have limed are the loamy dark soil food plots, because loamy peat soil is only like a 5.0 ph but it has a ton of organic matter so no fertilizer is needed.

When did u start seeding june or july?
@wisconsinwhitetail97445 жыл бұрын
Scott Dempsey you can plant clover pretty much any time of the year. Frost seeding in February or March. Spring planting in April and May. Or plant any of the 3 summer months. This plot was planted last June. And is looking great.

Would it be possible to frost seed oats in that plot next year
@wisconsinwhitetail97442 жыл бұрын
Seeding oats in the spring has no benefit.

This is obviously not no till. This video is from a few years back, since then we have done a lot of no till plantings of clover and brassicas

I can’t believe you till... you should research no till and maybe stop trying to teach your methods - for now
@wisconsinwhitetail97445 жыл бұрын
This is an old video... we no tilled a bunch of areas of clover and Brassicas this summer. Go check out some of my food plot videos from this summer.

I apologize- it was late and I’m frustrated... trying to grow grass from dust and rocks on a hill in middle Texas...
