Hi Jeff! i appreciate another long video. Makes my day, but then all of your videos are appreciated! Everything is looking so beautiful. I love the pool/beach planters. The hydrangea planters turned out pretty, too. I don't blame you for not wanting to put your hand in by Colby, not knowing where the critter was, but I'm glad you were able to take him in and he was ok. I hope you will show us if you catch whatever it was in a live trap, so we can find out what it was, too. Love the color of the green pot, and looking forward to seeing what you plant in it. It's always fun seeing Turbo playing/swimming in the pool, and seeing a glimpse of Poppy watching you was fun. I saw in your response to Judy that your Mom is doing better since getting to go home, and I hope she keeps improving. The saga of the palms, OMGoodness. I hope you're able to get the new Queen palm soon, and you're able to figure which palm will go the best near the door. Thank you so much for sharing!

You can succussion plant gladiolas every couple of weeks. Pruning neighbor plants might help them get enough sunshine

Great suggestion! I've unintentionally done just that by not being able to plant them at the same time 😆 I suppose it will all even out next year, but will be nice having some extra weeks of blooms this year.

I have a limelight standard that is about 15 ft tall. It is the showpiece of the front of my condo. It was 4 feet tall when I planted it years ago. Every March, I spend about 4 hours meticulously pruning it back by about 1/3. Monday, the landscapers for our condo complex came through with the hedge trimmers and cut off all the new growth and buds. I almost cried. They normally know enough not to touch anything at my place, but they had some new guys working that day. No blooms this year for me.😢

15ft! I bet that's beautiful when it blooms. I'm so sorry they pruned it up. That's happened with mine in the front yard and I was still lucky enough to get a few blooms from them, just had to wait several weeks longer for the new growth off of what was pruned to mature some.

Love those containers Jeff - they look so pretty. We have rabbits, foxes and badgers that visit us in our garden. I love all animals, they have alway enchanted me with their beauty and quirky little souls. Whatever happened with the little black kitten that you found a few years ago? I did try to find an update but must’ve missed it. Your garden is looking stunning as usual. You always amaze and inspire me with your planting every year. I am trying to repot a very big Phoenix palm at the moment 🥴 Sending you and your family much love and blessings xxx

Hey Jeff! Wait what? You said no to a big beautiful palm?! 😂 I actually love that windmill palm there. I think it’s a nice contrast to your Roebellini. Also OMG, that area with the sunpatiens and potato vine look gorgeous in the front of the other plants. I hate to say it, but I definitely think that was a rat… I have had them in my garden until recently, (maybe God answered my prayers) they would totally use your tortoise as a step to get away. They’ll be cautious at first, but eventually, they’ll run across your patio at night, try to get into sheds, garages, etc. I have door framing that they knawed the heck out of. They’re disgusting and smart. My garden is looking GORGEOUS! My White Giant Calla lily is looking incredible, especially with the other hardy tropicals & bamboo around. 🙌🏼 Fantastic start to summer for me!

I like it there too, but its an obnoxious height and hits ya in the face when going in and out. 😔 Yeah I'd rather have the symmetry with the two queens than an under potted bottle. It was nice but it would have looked out of place and it needed a new pot which would have cost me another $200. .. although I'm thinking about repotting the adonidia they brought me as it is. Didn't want ANOTHER big booty palm to repot. Thank you fir reminding me that I need to order new calla lilies! Mine didn't survive tye cold blast in January. Love the giant ones, I bet they look fantastic!

Hey Jeff. Everything is looking amazing. Could it possibly have been a Norway Rat. I’ve had them before in PA because of my bird feeders. Who knows really. These little critters love finding their way into our yards. Whatever it may be. I’m sure it’s loving the beauty of your yard.

I love how your pool looks at night! And day for that matter. I finally moved and got my own oasis and guess what... They're are deer in my yard almost non stop and I love it! They will come within 10 feet of me sometimes. They are just so chill and I love watching them. The other day there were 2 adults and one fawn. The fawn kept doing zoomies just like a puppy. But there was a snake in my mailbox and snakes everywhere. (we got snake away to try because my parents used to use it in Farmville VA). And I am finally getting to plant my stuff in the ground. I just adore how your rows of sun impatiens look with the alocasia and bananas. I'm going to be having my bananas planted at 2 corners of a screened in porch with bikini tinis and I want that row that you made, but I don't know it if would be weird to create that kind of 'descending' bed when it won't be up against a wall of my house.

Sorry I gre up off a lake and turtles can often be a slow moving evil lol. That new planter is stunning! Ihave three new flowers to research after watching this vid.

I bought 3 foxtail ferns years ago before the prices shot up, and have overwintered them in my growspace since. They are awesome plants I'm happy to have gotten so cheap. On the weekends when I plan to spend most of the day outside, I let my little tortoises run free in the yard, and usually get stressed lapping the yard as the sun goes down trying to find the last one. I just don't trust them outside. I've been watering in the evenings while it was so hot, cause I can't wake up earlier enough to water them before the sun is beating down. You do need a 'patine' on the concrete. The one time I powerwashed our flagstone, the wife did not approve.

Hi Jeff 👋 love all the placement of your beautiful plants. And that green pot is really pretty.! How fast do the Yellow Shrimp Plants grow? I love them. Isn't there a newer Sweet Potato Vine that's purple? (PW) You take care and we will see you soon.

Hey you! Yes there is! I can't remember the name but ive seen it around at nurseries this year. Would be great for fall planters! They'll grow pretty fast, those 18inch ones will easily be 2.5 feet tall by end of season depending on how much I prune on them to bush them out.

Looking good I got my yard done this summer with the remake. What should have taken a day or so took me two months but as you go further into senior life it's harder to do the work. As much as I hate fake turf my 2 × 4 apt yard that likes to be muddy it will be easier on me. I'm proud of myself for not having help putting arbor and electric BBQ together. Also potting up the rose containers

What little I could see of it, it might have been an opossum. I've had one in my yard a couple of years ago. It moved too slowly to be a wood rat ( which is usually the size of a squirrel).

I saw the tail. Sure looked like a rat’s rail. I see rats that live in our Palm Trees and they are BIG! When I had bird feeders, they would come down at night to eat. I couldn’t believe how big they were! I thought they were some other kind of animal but no, rats. I stopped with the feeders. I’m in Palm Springs, by the way.

Hey! Just wanted to let you know that people are studying why mexican/tropical nilkweed may not be good to plant in areas where it isn't native. The concern is that it may confuse the monarchs. Just a quick little PSA, do your own research. I've decided to stick with native milkweed and encourage others to do the same! :)

How did they kill the palm?
@TropicalPlantParty
@TropicalPlantParty 3 ай бұрын
No clue. Adonidias can be finicky in the greenhouse, it had trunk rot but still don't know how or why. The queen palm dying is very odd, they never lose queens. My guess it they didn't water it.
