BeesKnees and Saffron Finch petunias have the same patent number. I thought they looked too similar.

Thank you for the great video very informative! I am new to Mandeville I bought my first one at Costco in May in zone 6 Missouri. I decided to put it in a little bit bigger pot and to put the pot itself halfway into the ground where I wanted to plant it to climb up my Stone and wood pillar on my front porch. The plan is just to pick up the pot before the first Frost at the end of fall early winter this year and keep it in my basement and then put it back out in the spring. I have seen leaf drop and so far today it is June 13th and there aren't any buds or blooms yet 😢. I'm not sure what I need to do to get this beautiful plant to bloom! I used regular gardening soil in the pot as well as put some perlite in the soil I also used Espoma brand BioTone to fertilize when I first potted. It gets full sun morning and afternoon. Do you have any tips? Thanks!

If the tuber/corms multiply as quickly as say, Amorphophallus Konjac, I would just grow it in a pot this year and next spring put whatever it produces in the ground while keeping at least one in a pot in case none of others are hardy outdoors. I don’t know that I have ever seen that plant for sale before

I overwinter my amorphophallus in the pot in the basement, just let it die back there and leave it till the next spring. The 3 years I've had it it is always the last to come back to life and poke up through the soil. Every june, i wonder if it is dead. My canas and calla lillies that I treat the same way are already opening their leaves and about 1 1/2 feet tall. No sign of life yet in the amorphophallus pot. It just takes its time. Maybe yours just haven't sprouted yet? Oh, and 2 years ago I had a strange weed pop up along my patio...it looked so odd, I let I get bigger to see what it might be. It was an amorphophallus. A small bulblet must have escaped the pot. It survived my zone 6a winter! I don't know what kind it is. It has a beautiful mottled stem and gets about 2 feet high. Hasn't flowered yet.

The square pot, you have the cotton buoyant thing wrong. I have the same thing and it’s backwards and needs to be inserted in the straw piece. Remember to read the instructions lol. I actually like it for my micro dwarf tomatoes.

How can I water my Rabbit's Foot Fern when I'm on vacation
@michaelbaldivia2740Күн бұрын
Hi, I’ve had one of these for two years. It’s a real gardener’s challenge buy enjoy it. Your video correlates with my experience. It’s an indoor plant. In addition to the specific requirements since moving it to a Lechua pot with the pon it’s struggled. I tried different things like adjusting light exposure and watering period. However could it be that the constant access to water with the self watering pot be the issue? The Lechua pot and pot should manage the water absorption but it’s a constant exposure rather than allowing dry periods? Could this be the issue? Thanks.

Hi Jeff! I loved the long video! I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I'm glad you shared that with us. Please always know that we care about you and want to hear what's going on in your life, even if it's not always good news. I do hope that you have other family members to help you out and give you a break, and please take care of yourself, too. As always, it was fun seeing the crane delivering the palms. The planters look awesome, as do the impatiens and other plants. Thank you so much for sharing!

Can I cut off all the aerial roots?
@birdluvrs3 күн бұрын
Thanks for posting this. It was very informative. I had this last year, and it spread so fast due to my constant air movement in the room, that it wiped out my entire collection! Even the ones I moved out of the room, once I realized it was spreading, later showed signs of infection and had to be disposed of. It was devastating. The experience taught me to be extremely vigilant now, especially when introducing new plants to your collection.

do you keep the pygmy over winter or does it get sent off as well?
@TropicalPlantParty3 күн бұрын
I kept it indoors for a few years, then in the growspace for a few more, but now it goes to the greenhouse. Takes up too much room/cast too much shade on it's surroundings in the growspace now.

Bird of Paradise? Um no... That's a full blown "flock in a pot" if I ever saw it!~ I love the persian shield you have tucked in, I've been keeping one as a houseplant and so far so good. I had to laugh on the stickers on the pots I'm one of those people who's always peeling a UPC off a plant in the car so I get both sides. No worries on the sounds real life happens in everyones channels. Holy cow a crane brings wish palms from the sky you def. garden on a whole other level.

As someone who occasionally caretakes for family when medical things go on, taking care of yourself is important. I didn’t set enough boundaries last year & when they were mostly functional before docs cleared them for work…it was…frustrating that they refused to help in things they were capable of. Your mom’s situation is different medically from what I dealt with last year, but needless to say the yard suffered, indoor plants suffered and I was stressed. The yard still looks like trash, I’ve only started getting outside to pull weeds (physically couldn’t get outside much due to the amount of rain we’ve had), nothing is fertilized, I never got to plant seeds, indoor plants desperately need water & fertilizer, and I’m not in the mood for any of it. The only yard work getting done is mowing the grass as one can between showers & the yard being a swamp. I think I’m finally relaxing as my mental load is allowing me to not get overwhelmed at trying new cooking recipes. (And I did pull about 4 buckets of weeds in 2 days…) But it’s time to do my dishes and think about trying a new cookie recipe…although I don’t really want to turn on the oven in this heat.

First of all, Jeff, sorry what you are going through. Sending prayers. But let's talk about your stunning garden! I am so jealous of all your palms! They all are beyond stunning. All I have is a pygmy date palm and a majesty palm. I just got a tropicana canna lilly bulb, and I can't wait for it to grow! It is pushing out its second leaf, which is still green. Is that normal? And OH MY GOSH, your bird of paradise js just unreal! Mine is small with only 2 leaves 😢, and I neglected it through winter. It's pushing out a nice new leaf now that I repotted it! I also have a musa basjoo, which I am in love with. It just pushed out a 22in leaf! It's so beautiful! I can't wait for it to grow pups so I can plant them all around my house!

Hi Jeff, I'm so glad you told us about your mother. We all care about you and are here to listen to whatever you want to share. I also went through dementia with my mother, it was difficult but there were also some unexpected precious moments that occurred. Is that a wild black cherry tree? I have one about the same size that is a volunteer. It is a host plant for several butterflies and several birds like the little berries but it can be pretty messy. I always enjoy watching the palm trees come back, thanks for taking the time to film that!

Try to focus on making a plan and then doing the next thing. Prayers go out to you. You're not being selfish, you're taking care of your mom! But seriously, I do caregiving too, my son is a special needs adult, and it's ok to have a happy place to go to, like your garden. You need that. This is a life style now, and you are only as good as you can take care of yourself to be a good care giver. So love your videos, and hope all the best for your mother and your whole family.

Once you get a routine going things will seem more manageable, it’s not easy being a caretaker - but you’re home and you have the wonderful back yard for you and anyone else who needs some cheerful, calming plants and beautiful water to sit with. All will be ok. So many of us have been thru caretaking, we understand when videos are less etc. ..keep yourself well so you can help your Mom. Many warm hugs to you 🤗💐🪴🧸

oh Jeff, I know the struggle of a parent going through sudden onset dementia. I wish I had some positive words, all I can say is do what you need to do to take care of her and do what you can otherwise. Random question. What happened to that purple leaved plant you used to have in one of the planters over where the glider is? I don't remember the name of it because it has been a minute.
@TropicalPlantParty4 күн бұрын
Thanks Michael! Hmmm... I am drawing a blank. The only purple plant I can think of would be the purple passion plants or strobilanthes. I had a purple-ish alocasia years ago, idk what the variety was called.

@@TropicalPlantParty I had to go back through garden tours to find it because it was driving me crazy. Pseuderanthemum. Also, go back and look at your August garden tour from 5 years ago. Check out how small the Thai Constellation was. And you had the clamshell planted up with Cactu, which maybe you don't have the sun to do now but it really looked nice.
