Me planting: Gently coaxing a plant from its six pack, gently pressing it into the soil, tamping additional compost to make sure plant has good root to soil contact, a gentle mist of water to ensure it lives. Two days later it's dead. Andrew planting: Not so gentle handling transplant, shoves it into a watery hole, end result beautiful plant with copious amounts of fruit. It's just not fair. LOL!

Deer eating the tops of the plants seems mild compared to when they pull your beautiful beets out of the ground. My dad never liked the times they take one bite out of a head of cabbage and move on to the next. Instead of finishing the one started.

Hey Andrew... We missed you on Friday, 5/31. We were traveling from deep, deep south Texas on our way to Maine to visit family and we stopped by to say "Hi!" (Actually a pilgrimage of sorts since we have been watching pretty much from the start) We had a nice chat with your Mom and Beckey.. Saw your dad briefly, but he looked a bit distracted, and then had a really nice chat with Matt! Almost saw Joel... he was loading a hay trailer to a tractor, but was gone by the time we looked for him. Absolutely love your family... very solid and down to earth! (FYI, stilled interested in being adopted by your family, but I'm now 75 and probably not able to pick peas!) 😅

There is a farmer in NJ who was having a terrible time with deer. They were really tearing thru his corn. One year he had had enough and went out and made an accurate estimate of his corn loss and calculated they had distroyed a full 25% of his crop. He was so mad, the next year he planted no more corn. !

I can remember being backed over the edge of a cliff, and being backed into the creek on a tobacco setter. I was always the professional lefty as well. We didn't have a fancy pump and clean water tanks, we either backed into the creek or backed into a pond and filled the tank with buckets. A piece of old tobacco canvas over the opening kept us from getting pond scum in the tank, or any little fish.
