I first visited the Planting Fields Arboretum last year and was blown away by its beauty and grandeur. Formerly the estate of William Coe, the Planting Fields is now a historic park and a living symbol of Long Island's North Shore, which earned the nickname of the "Gold Coast" in the 20th Century for its affluence.
It would have been impossible to highlight the vast acreage and sights that this park has to offer, so I decided to break up the video into parts, with this one primarily focusing on some of the outdoor spaces and the history of the Planting Fields. Enjoy Part 1-and I would highly recommend visiting the Planting Fields when you're out in New York.

My mom grew up just down the road from the Coe estate back in the 1920’s. I can’t wait to see part 2 of this incredible garden and horticultural resource.

You're welcome! I feel like I should be thanking you constantly for your wonderful channel and just overall existence. I'd love to visit some of the sites myself, but, unfortunately, at the moment, I'm literally on the other side of the world. Well, keep up the good work!

Hi! Your videos have been so helpful to me in getting to know my plants better and what kind of care they need. I have a question about potting. I was given a very tall (about 8 feet) Dracaena deremensis (I'm pretty sure) that grows in cane form. At the time I thought it needed a bigger pot and have since realized that the pot is too big, making drainage a problem. Is it possible to put a plant into a smaller pot, once it has been in a bigger one for a few years, without killing it or hurting it drastically? Thanks so much!
