Garlic is an easy-to-grow, fall-planted crop for California’s mountain regions. Garlic performs well in the Eastern Sierra, including the Owens Valley.
In this video, local UC Master Gardener volunteers from Inyo and Mono counties show how to plant hard neck garlic in fall after the first frost of the season. In late spring we will be producing a video to show how to harvest and store the garlic grown in this video. (In our area we usually harvest garlic around June.)
If you have more questions about raising garlic in Inyo or Mono counties, please contact our local helpline: immg@ucanr.edu, or find us on Facebook: / inyomonomastergardeners .
