I’m so glad I found your channel. It seems like we are in a similar phase of life (children off to university) and also in our gardening life. As a younger gardener I definitely wanted to try all the plants and thus ended up with too many varieties. Now I find myself wanting a simpler, cleaner look with larger swaths of fewer plants. I am absolutely loving these two newest areas you planted, with the skimmias and the hydrangeas. Amazing how a larger area planted with only one or two things can have such a big impact to the eye! I’m learning so much from what you’re doing now - can’t wait to see you tackle the borders!

Hi Michelle, I do miss the kids but they are both happy and thriving. I’m also loving this new phase of life, we can please ourselves and garden until late and eat any time we want! It’s fun seeing just what we can achieve and our progress in the garden is happening at such a rate now. We’ve always known exactly what we want to do but could never quite get to everything and now we can! It’s lovely to have you join us, and I wish you happy gardening too Jenny

Same with me. I used to go to the garden centre and buy whatever I thought looked nice, now I try to plant lots of the same plant and stick to a very subtle colour palette.

@MurphysGarden completely agree! I’ve spent an entire Sunday in the garden, reading garden books, and watching garden videos on KZbin Tube, something I could never have done when my children were younger.

I think you found the perfect place for those hydrangeas. It will be very lovely when they mature.

I agree with you and it looks like a lot of your viewers also. The hydrangeas look just the thing for that area. You have given us another great video.

Greetings to the Borderlands On the hydrangea theme gave you thought of climbing hydrangeas? Put some coach bolts into those posts you have on the fence there run horizontal wires at your desired heights every 50 cms high and trail the hydrangea along the wires. Keep them from touching the fence and in a few seasons should look nice. We did it on a section here looks ok so long as you keep them clear of any fence or wall.

It’s a good idea but l wonder if the Hornbeam would limit them from getting big, I’ve got a big expanse of brick wall which is east facing and I have planted two, hopefully they will look good in time Thank you for watching Jenny
