Greetings from Canada! I put copper covered sticks in my gardens and Mr Noble Toad showed up so we suddenly have no slugs! It took 8 years but yup, no more slugs! Great way to plant onions!

You'll lose a few bud, but onions will take in whatever you put them in. Try the Japanese over winter varieties next time, you plant in Oct/Nov and they should do well in your location.

the only problem with the anti-snail precautions is that snails can't read, so they don't know that they shouldn't be on them. in my experience, only hedgehogs and ducks help. but they make short process with the beasts and fast, too, so always make sure you have a supply.

Well, seems everyone has a solution for garden critters, but the only solution for mother nature is to be able to shelter your garden😂😂😂 so possibly find a bunch of old kid’s wagons create some weep holes in the bottom & add some taller sides! Then you have created a raised bed for gardening that you can also move into shelter when needed😂😂😂! Happy growing 👍

Irish slugs eat onions??? Thank almighty that our slugs don't eat onions :D and just little tip - soak your onions in potassium permanganate solution (light one - nice pink water) for few hours before you plant them... and also you can water them at first with salt water (around 150-200g of salt to 10 liter of water)... both things help to keep onion fly away and also others who want to munch on your onions :D

Cool, would the salt water not kill the soil
@huntliba6 ай бұрын
If you only do it long time, then yes.... atleast most of the natural plants and salt will not kill the soil :D but you won't water onions with salt water for long... just one or two times... it keeps fly away, because fly lays its eggs on the ground around the onion... salt dehydrate the eggs...
