Sisi cela ukubuza did you say that the reason for the hay is to keep the moisture ?
@amandakhanyase85239 ай бұрын
Hi sisi, yes it's to keep moisture and also acts like soil around the potatoes, ayanaba kahle under the hay and there is therefore no need to add soil as your potatoes grow.

How do you deal with potato diseases?
@amandakhanyase852318 күн бұрын
I have not experienced any potato diseases so far. The only thing I had was bugs but they only ate the greens and the tubers were never affected so I let them be until the greens dried up.

Yes you can, especially if you are in a place with sub tropical climate that doesn't have frost in winter.

Why covering them with grass?
@amandakhanyase85233 ай бұрын
I use grass instead of soil. This way I don't have to keep adding soil as they grow.

@amandakhanyase852310 ай бұрын
Hello. Give them some time, sometimes they may take 3 weeks or more before you see anything visible on the top.

Hi, what is that you are speeading in the hole before putting seeds? Spacing of tubers? If don't have hay, what else can I use?
@amandakhanyase8523 Жыл бұрын
Hi. I put lime powder to repel pests like moles, bone meal to help the tubers grow well and some chicken manure to fertilize the soil. To space your tubers you can measure about 10-15 cm inbetween them. If you don't have hay you can use the grass that you cut from your yard or collect it when neighbors cut their lawns. That is what we use mostly and only buy hay when we need to top up what we have.
