Trust me on this one get you a $3 bag of compost at the big box store and put in holes when you are planting your plants will do sooo much better , it took me sooo many years before I started doing this and wow what a difference it makes because we do all of this hard work but sometimes we don't think of the dirt and what the plants need , there is a saying in the garden world ( Dig a $5 hole for a $2 dollar plant 🪴 🤔 I have a lot of red clay it holds on to water 💧 not good for most plants at all 😢 I love your channel your doing a great job .

Thank you once again 😊 I do sometimes add soil conditioner or fertilizers when I plant but not always that is really good advice.💕

When planting, look at the tag for determining how far apart you want to put things. Plant for the adult, not what you currently see. So far, so good!

Thank you so much and thank you for watching. Rome wasn't built in a day and we will get it done! It takes time, I'm trying to show what can be done on a budget and without heavy equipment. I'm sure your new garden room will be just as beautiful. 💕

Hey there from the Uk, working so hard on that heavy soil well done you, I love your ideas, may I offer some advice , look at the size that the plant will grow to I feel the 3 spirea are far too close together which will create further work for you, personally o set my hardy shrubs back from paths in enough space to grow and let’s face it you get one point of interest a year from their flowers, I would then line the path with your preferred perennials theses will flower in spring then give them a chop back here in the Uk we call it the Chelsea chop, done in Chelsea flower show week, you will get further flowers and have the spirea as a beautiful back drop. Hope you don’t feel I’m getting at you , I just thought I’d share my wisdom lol

You are right I may have planted them too close, but I will rearrange or trim if need be. The one that was already located in the bed is over 5 years old and hasn't gotten much bigger. The new ones that I planted are reblooming spireas so I hope to see blooms all year (hopefully) 🤞I just want it to look full...its such a large open space that needs a lot of tlc

Looking so nice. its going to be so pretty when all in bloom can't wait for that garden walk! here is a hint on moving those big logs and also big rocks if you have, I get a saucer like sled and hook a rope on it, roll those logs onto that so easy to pull across the ground.

You are doing a great job in your garden but I think you have planted the Spirea a little too close together. I have Spirea and they need a fair amount of space. Thank you for sharing your videos.❤

Thank you so much and thank you for watching. I may have planted them a little too close but I don't mind if they intermingle. The one that was already in that bed is more than 5 years old and hasn't gotten much better. I will rearrange or trim them to fit the space if needed.

Glad I came across your video. I have two pear trees I have to plant in my very small back yard. I think I will dig my holes while the ground is wet. I know your garden is going to be beautiful. What zone are you? Take care, I am so excited for you

Hey! I love your channel. I might have missed it but I would love for you to talk about your plans for your garden. It’s hard to tell what the overall plan is because I don’t know how your property is sited. Where is the house in relation to your garden? What zone are you gardening in. A little back story would help. I think I heard you say this is a new property for you. Keep up the good work.

I live in Virginia and I Garden in zone 7. I live on a wooded 1 acre lot covered in trash from the previous owner. My plan is just to turn the whole lot into a garden, I just want to show people what you can accomplish on a very limited budget LOL. I clear the property little by little mostly during the fall and winter time by hand. I want to show everyone what one or two people can do on a limited budget with the big obstacles I have. Which is the trash on the property and this jungle like acre. I dig a hole and about 80% of the time I'm digging up trash. The whole garden is really on a hill the house sets on top of the hill. And I still have yet to move the pile of about 30 tires😔 but Rome wasn't built in a day and I want this to be an inspiration for people. I just thought this might be something that people would want to see.

Just found your channel. What a muddy job. Looks like you have clay soil, hence planting so high. As one who tries to work smarter, not harder, it pained me to see you not using your shovel to its full capacity. Step on those flanges atop the blade and your hole will be dug in about three plunges. I lack upper-arm strength so rely on my massive 😅 leg muscles.

You aren’t digging your holes deep enough, top of plant should be level with ground. Also adding compost to your soil would be helpful.
@creatingyourgarden
@creatingyourgarden 5 ай бұрын
Sometimes if I'm adding a thick layer of mulch or if the ground isn't leveled where I'm planting at I do plant a plant a little high, they seem to do fine with that 🤷🏾‍♀️ Compost would always be helpful as well but I don't always add it, depends if I have it on hand or if I think about it at the time. I will fertilize later on though. I probably should have mentioned that in my video. Thank you for your comment

With clay soil you have to plant high so as not to suffocate the plants. Keep up the good work.
