Planting Tulips In the Ground 🌷| Design Tips & How to (step by step) | Bulbs Growing Series (#2)
So it continues, the great planting of all Spring Bulbs!
Very happy to be tackling in-ground planting this week (I have 750 bulbs to go through, that's a lot for my small garden and IT WILL FIT!!!), many more planting sessions will follow this one!
This is PART 2 of my 'Tulip Planting Series' - if you're planting in containers check out PART 1 (linked below) ❤️
Planting Tulips (and all Spring bulbs) in the ground is really easy (and similar to planting in containers), all you need is:
- A planting plan: where you include early-mid-late varieties for months of colour. Make sure to place taller varieties at the back and graduate in height towards the front of the border.
- A planting tool: it can be a specialised planter, a shovel or simply a dibber!
- Remember: pointy side up, space about 3/4 cm apart and plant 10-15 cm deep (about twice the height of the bulb)
You can also layer in the border but remember to place at least 5 cm of compost in between layers (also your top layer needs to be at the appropriate depth for the bulb - 10/15 cm for Tulips) to give enough space for the roots.
Here I am using a bulb starter but that's completely optional!
Don't panic, there is still time to plant your Spring bulbs, until Christmas (as they will still need a period of cold in order to flower properly).

😁 My thoughts exactly as soon as I laid out the last bulb 🤣🤣🤣 It wasn’t too hard (because the soil was loose from digging out my my dahlias) but quite long indeed 🙈 But shifting so much earth on my own would have been difficult 🥺 Thank you for watching and leaving a comment, glad you enjoyed it ❤️
