I finally got my mitts on a Spider plant "Orange Flash" and I just need that in my life. I have 35-year-old jade plant that I have cut hard over those years so its trunk is THICC compared to the crown, not that the crown isn't big. But it looks more like an old oak tree in shape than how I see people usually keep jade plants. I also just really enjoy my variegated ivy. So easy to get hold of and it just brings me joy having it cover a pole.

I love my Aglonema Stripes, too. She survived direct evening sunlight, me moving, multiple pest infestations with regularily waterboarding in the shower and now lives in a dark corner in my living room. And while she reduced her growth by a lot she is still growing there. Howerver, she is not as bushy as she used to be, and sadl there are no new root groths that I coud cut and propagate 😑 I also got a Manula Pothos from my mum when she didn´t want it anymore (it must be somewhat ancient, as I know it was always around when I grew up) and it´s growing like crazy. The leaves have this beautiful colour changes that look like watercolours or acrylic paint and I love looking at it! I even have some favourite leafes that I check in regularily 🥰 My absolute favourite, however, is my Gasteria acinacifolia. I got it as a gift and did not water it the first half year or so because I thought it was plastic (it was a cheap IKEA one) and when I was made aware of my error I started properly caring for it. It was the first house plant that survived me and I would always start with it again, It is not beautiful and has grown quite wild, but it gives me lots of offshoots to gift to friends and it flowers since it stands in a bright place. It has the most amazing flamingo head shaped flowers and as I said, it can survive nearly anything. Great plant for beginners!

I share the same enthusiasm for Aglaonema. In my experience, they're pest-resistant, thrive in low-light conditions, and rarely develop leggy leaf stems, unlike other plants. They're not finicky about soil, and my plants always appear healthy. Their robust, firm roots make repotting a breeze, reducing the risk of repotting shock. Aglaonemas are also incredibly adaptable. I had a few plants under a grow light upstairs for a year, then moved them to a northern window downstairs, and they showed no signs of shock whatsoever. In fact, they continued to flourish. I've even purchased some online, and they hardly showed any signs of shock after unpacking. While I've had pest issues with other online purchases, I've made it a habit to replace the soil upon arrival, even when not recommended. However, the Aglaonemas seem unfazed by this, and I've never seen any negative effects, such as affected bottom leaves. On the contrary, within two weeks, I often notice new leaves developing. Although they start growing slowly, they can suddenly experience a growth spurt, producing multiple new leaves or shoots. Recently, I had one plant produce three shoots simultaneously, essentially yielding three new plants! I'm passionate about these plants, just like you. They have a unique character, even 'sweating' at night like few other plants do, and their roots are truly remarkable!

I'm in two minds about getting an aglaeonoma. My must haves are Alocasias. Frydek. Portadora. Regal Shield. Ninja. Any and all. Boston fern - so easy but big impact. Also calathea zebrina, and pepperomias. I have baby versions of all your other choices. My strelitzia (bird of paradise) is barely 5 inches tall currently.

Omgosh I feel ya with the spring onions! I get so distracted so easily and often wonder just what the hell am I doing?! I’ve killed 2 previous manjulas, I’m praying this new one will live so I can train it up a moss pole and get it to maturity like Jan on Sydney plant guy!! I would absolutely LOVE to watch you repot your Raph Tetrasperma!!

Pothos are so nice for beginners. They have beautiful green foliage that brightens a room, and they are hearty. I also think they are great for learning about propagation. Does your bird of paradise bloom?

Lovely idea 🥰 I have been a serious plant Parent for maybe 4 months, and my collection is not that Big. Maybe 25 plants and counting, plus I have a garden with both South and east facing places where I have around 12 plants and counting 😍 I have an Homalonema and I love her, she was one of my first plants and the tag just Said “green plant 40 DKR”. She is so Easy, the only place she did not like was the window sill in a South facing 🫣 I recently got 3 baby raphi. Tetra. And I can’t WAIT for Them to grow big 😍 Oh and I almost screamed earlier and scared my boyfriend, because I noticed that my BOP is putting out a new leaf 😍😍😍

Epipremnums (pothos), Peperomias, and Chlorophytum cosmosum (spider plant). So basic, but they are my favourites. The different varieties just have so much personality. I basically want to collect them all 😂 I do want to start adding Aglonema’s. I feel like I’m missing out. Also, I share your feelings on my Rhaphidophora tetrasperma. I just can’t imagine it not being there. It just takes up a position and holds its own.

I would probably try to replace my Manjula pothos first. Then my Thai Constellation. And I would have to have my Domino Peace Lily and a Staghorn fern. I am down to about 100 plants from 250 that I owned during covid. So most of my collection are my favorite plants.

For me, it would be my pothos…I’ve had her for about 15 years. I have propagated her sooooo many times. I think almost everyone at my office has one of my propagations. (not a very big office btw) 😂 I absolutely love my carnivorous plants. I have nepenthes, VFTs, pinguiculas, drosera and Sarracenias. Love all my Monsteras, Thai, Albo and deliciosa…I’m waiting for my daughter to gift me a cutting of her Aurea. If I knew how much fun Hoyas were, I would have started sooner. I just went down the Hoya rabbit hole less than a year ago and I’ve purchased quite a few cuttings so I’ve got a pretty good little collection now. Last but not least my cacti. I have a few euphorbias, some Gymnocalciums, variegated Opuntia, a few Echinopsis & Astrophytum varieties. Although I love Anthurium, there are too many hybrids to keep track of so I tend to be selective in my choices. This video was so much fun and makes you think about the plants that aren’t high maintenance that you love. Oh and a special shout out to Alocasias…I find looking for corms during a repot kinda like looking for a little buried treasure. 😂

Knowing myself as I do, I can't imagine not having a jade plant and a Thanksgiving cactus. Those are long-time staples for me. I think I'd probably always want to have a Hoya Carnosa Compacta and a Hoya Carnosa Krimson Queen. I would definitely also have aglaonema, though -- unlike yourself -- I go for the colorful ones. I think I'd also get a Peace Lily Domino. Lastly, either a Marble Queen or Manjula pothos.

.. I didn't know about red spring onions.. But I know that when you chop off the green top, you can sit the rest of it in a glass with 1 - 2cm water, and the top will grow back and the onion will make roots 🤗 .. I love my Aglaonemas, and my Syngoniums, and all of my hanging pothos and philodendrons.. And my cane Begonia Catalina who is very special to me.. My maranta's and ctenanthes.. Oh, for flying sake, it's like choosing between your pets 😳 impossible..

I really wish people would stop using Frydek as the common name for Micholitziana when it's not. Frydek means variegated. Micholiziana common name is Green Velvet. People (and businesses annoyingly) started calling it Frydek because they look similar, but it is not the same plant, and Frydek should not be used referring to the green version, because that is the green velvet, not Frydek.
