You can probably beat the game with only split peas attacking, as they can kill excavator zombies and jesters with their repeater head, becoming a great counter to them for 125 sun. Split pea is also easier to level up because they are an adventure plant and can become a cheaper alternative to other back and forth plants like rotobaga and bonk Jesus.
