Hoping everyone is well in what's becoming a very difficult unpredictable world. there is nothing like the garden to ease the soul and calm the mind. we should be able, with the wit of man to make our planet paradise yet we seem hell bent on destruction. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this short 45 minutes of escapism.
Best wishes....Malcolm

I used to watch the videos from Eggleston garden, then it somehow stopped. Today I went there with my dad, not realising it was the same place, and I recognised it!! Asked the lady there and she directed me here, to your channel! I'm so thrilled I can watch you again. Brilliant!

Hosta geek here! your noid is almost certainly "Liberty" which is a sport of "Sagae" there are two other look-alikes called "Ivory Coast" and "Majesty" also sports of "Sagae" but yours is most likely "Liberty" as it was marketed much more widely than the other two. Your new shed looks great as does the rest of the garden. It was so nice to get a glimpse of Amanda's beaver.

Dear Amanda, thank you for revealing your beaver. I often tried to imagine what it looked like. I agree with the American Beaver expert that it looked rather shaggy. Perhaps Malcolm could tidy it up with a delicate spring pruning😘

I'm sitting on my base element watching you digging Malcolm. So looking forward to your propagation area when it arrives. Your previous information on delphiniums and primulas have been really great. I'm pleased that someone with your experience also, "pokes things in to see if they'll do." Right plant, right place is a great maxim, but we all end up with plants for which we don't have an ideal situation. It's also really valuable to be reminded of how to pot things on. You guys do thousands, we do a few. So it's great to see how efficiently you work. Please would you consider talking about dogs and gardens? I know it's fashionable to think that one's dog follows one about with one's secateurs in a basket, but my 6 month old is trashing what he can get hold of.

Pea gravel is soupy to walk on. Gravel with sharp edges is better suited to walkways as it doesn’t shift under you.

Malcolm, random question, but in eggleston hall gardens, in your retail area where you stage your plants to sell, you have nursery fabric down on the ground. How is the ground under that fabric prepared? Is it just dirt, stone, stone dust? Thanks Malcolm! Love the videos glad you are still making them.
@plantsmanscorner128
@plantsmanscorner128 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Ryan……the fabric we use is called ‘mypex’…..there are several similar ground cover fabrics, it’s made of woven HDPE threads….they’re all the same essentially….just different weights and permeability…..but I wouldn’t get hung up on that. It can be laid straight into grass or clear ground….even weedy ground providing woody perennials are cleared as the will cause lumps trying to push through…..I have happily strummed grassland and pegged down sheets. The lack of light kills off regrowth. You need to peg it down well. If your in the UK you can use our suppliers to source items like this…..LBS Horticulture……look up ground cover….it may not be mypex but that was only ever the original brand name so we call all woven ground cover mypex out of habit now. Just make sure any ground is not too stony if your lining pots etc out as it will frustrate you no end. Hope this helps…..best wishes….Malcolm

Hi Malcolm - a few months or so I asked for the name of the edging you’re using - you replied thanks. Thing is I’m now ready to purchase some but cannot find your reply for some reason - and I can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called. When you’ve time would you mind telling me again. 🤔

Hello Ben……sorry for the delays. I’ve been so busy getting this garden into shape. It’s been a long task and I really wanted to show what can be done in a year. I’ve quite a lot filmed I just need to edit it up. There is also a very rude poem from Amanda….who’s getting over Covid at the moment….it’s quite dangerous for people of her pleasantly plumpness. Next couple of weeks I promise…..just finishing off the f***ing pond currently. I really do loath water gardening but it’s nearly done. Best wishes….Malcolm
