A Touch of Spring at Eggleston Hall Gardens

An early morning walk around Eggleston Hall Gardens before the customers start arriving and I have to hide away in the potting shed. There is something unique about a spring morning, particularly an English spring morning when everyone is going about their tasks in readiness and I hope you enjoy this little stroll with us.

The apple blossoms were wonderful. Beautiful nursery. I wish so much that I could visit it. I'd be there every week loading up my truck full of lovely greenery. BTW, not at all pathetic to fall in love with a tree. I feel the same way and often think of the stories they could tell if only they could talk.

Wow. Is the planting date of that beech roughly documented? I always thought those beeches maxed out at 2 or 300. And by that time they were losing their crown and really look like veteran trees.

Malcolm, can you share how you make your beds? We've grown out of our first year space done with stone, but does the fabric thing work or will the grass keep poking through and have to be nuked every year? After I get the guy with the backhoe in to flatten the ground, I could do with some advice as to how to go on from there....Cheers.
