My husband and I saw a zz plant at home depot labeled as a succulent. I had no idea what plant it was, but it was in bad condition. It smelled like it was rotting. My husband told me to save it. I did so much research to find out what plant it was and how to take care of it. About 2 years later, it's been repotted twice and it looks beautiful!

If your ZZ is not growing it may be rootbound or needs a bit more light. The soil mix I use is either a mix I put together with indoor potting mix, perlite, and orchid bark or I use the premade soil from @solsoils . Use code PlantsKrystal10 for 10 percent off. Don’t be that person to have rotty potatoes, your ZZ will thank you!

I’m pretty sure this is the plant that’s called “wardrobe flower” in Swedish (garderobsblomma) It’s called that because you can put it in a wardrobe, forget about it for six months and when you find it again it’ll still be fine

I find people usually underwater zz plants, I was definitely one of them. I now water mine every 2-3 weeks, I have 3 of them and they r all pushing out new growth. Long bouts of infrequent watering won't produce much new growth if any. I also find the best way to water them is to let them buttchug for a good 5-10 mins. My oldest zz only has one stem and has been like that for over 3 years. Well, in January it finally grew another stem.

Hi! Thanks for this video. My ZZ is huge (and I mean, HUGE). More than 160cm tall, probably 100cm large. I need to separate it because it is just way too big. I have cut once a year or so the long stems but I cut one and 3 will grow. It just will not stop growing and expanding, so much that we call it affectionately "The Monster". What can I do? Thanks for any tips!
@dianal3827 Жыл бұрын
So funny story... I decided to repot and separate my 5yo ZZ plant this fall. The roots were so interlinked and tight together that I decided to cut them apart. Brutal. I let them callos over in the bath tub for a few hours, repot my now 3 plants, and all was looking well. Until. One week later. 2 of the plants showed signs of yellowing. It was not too much water or too little because the "potatoes" were nice and plump with a slight wrinkling on the very top, which was how they should look between waterings. I decided to only cut the dead tissue off and let it do its thing. MY PLANT WAS BLOOMING. For the first time. It was struggling because I divided it as it was growing its flowers. I didnt know it was mature enough to flower because most tropicals will stagnate and never flower indoors. I left one flower on each to bloom and be pretty for a few days, then cut the others off. I fertilized with cacti and succulent liquid fertilizer. The plants are good now, growing new leaves and "potatoes". So, bottom line: they can and will bloom. Don't divide the plant when it's blooming. Wait for the stage where it's growing new leaves and roots. I thought they were leaves but they were flowers lol.
