So if you overwater it they turn yellow and brown and die. And the same if you underwater it. So basically the only way to tell is by checking the soil for how damp or dry

You are right. However, if you observe your plants and soil regularly every time you are checking, after some time, through experiences, you can just tell if the plant needs watering or not by just looking at it. Just a glance and you will know. I never dip my fingers into the soil or test the soil for moisture levels, I just see and I know. It's a kind of "knowing" you develop through experience.

I was watching the video and immediately found it odd that this Indian dude didn't have a very typical Indian accent, but had a distinct hint of a Malay accent. Turns out he's a Malaysian Indian KZbinr 😂 Nice showcase of leaf rot and oedema examples, by the way.

lol, thanks. That obvious ah? Anyway glad you enjoyed the video.

@@PlantZone It was 😁 When you pronounce 'water', it sounds very Malay because of the emphasis on the schwa sound. But when you pronounce 'watering', you go back to sounding 'typically Indian'.

Can we grow plant with less watering when water drainage is not good?
@PlantZone3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can but it depends on the type of plants you are growing. Some cactus hardly need watering except misting or snake plants and Chinese evergreen that needs less water, which can be grown in any soil and as long as you don't overwater them. Overwatering these plants will cause the roots to rot if there is no proper drainage. However, it will slow down or affect the plant growth because well-draining soil is not just for draining waters easily and to ensure the soil does not become soggy, but also to create air pockets for the roots that help it in oxygen intake. The loose well-draining soil also allows the root to move and grow easily, which helps the plant grow faster and better. So, it really depends on the plant you are growing.

How can I recognize broken roots for overwatering?
@PlantZone3 жыл бұрын
It can be identified by the presence of soft, brown, and mushy roots. Healthy plant roots should be firm. The plant leaves will be wilting and turn yellow or fall off and slow growth.

@@PlantZone I think I have that problem, the leaves of my plant come out small and pale after they fall, I will cut the roots in the softest part
@PlantZone3 жыл бұрын
Yes, cut of the mushy roots and repot it in well draining soil.
