It's not a waltz. It was written long before the waltz. Itsin 6/8 time not 3/4

Yes, but we can't resist the urge to turn it into a waltz! It's better than playing it as a jig!

@@RedDesertFiddle There is a way to play it which isn't a waltz but isn't a jig either. It's about how you stress it. There's a few tunes from that era that are in 6/8 or 6/4 time which people do play as waltzes but they were not originally waltzes. It's about how you play them. I try to zboid treating them as waltzes. They have their own character znd people need to be aware they are not originally waltzes.
