So nice to see these projects come together with all the layers of thought and planning! Motion detector @5:55 is a great idea, but also add humidity detection. I've combined both into Arduino-based control boxes. HRV/ERV boost works great because it is remote and quiet. Recess behind fridge @4:42 should be standard! I do it even in existing walls, with power relocated to one of the narrow side walls.

plastering is the normal way over here, we don't take quite as much care (not required in most instances), but its far quicker than drywall due to lack of sanding and dry times. typical is two coats of finish plaster, straight on top of each other after you flatten the first coat. only gypsum based really, you cant find many people who will use lime. mesh tape and metal beads

Agreed. Frame TV would look amazing and doesn't commit you (via wall niche) to specific form factor.

I like plaster, it feels and looks good, it's nice to see the imperfections in the wall, and I don't see the need to get all anal about everything being perfect, OCD I guess. I have built mansions where the houses were made to look old used and distressed, we carved up all cabinets and woodwork to look old. The last mansion we did, was level 5 drywall with a diamond plaster super smooth finish with color in the plaster, when you paint it you bury the nice plaster finish. But I guess it depends on where you are, we are in wine country and ultra-modern is not in style.

your building a specific size niche in the wall for a specific TV that will likely be replaced in 5 years.... great idea, what could go wrong

Thanks for watching Alex! If the TV is replaced the niche can be modified to fit the new TV. The room wasn't designed around how easy it will be to replace a TV.

​@@NSBuilders One thing that will be a pain is that mount designs and tv mounting screw patterns were kinda standard, however many of the newer 'slim" TVs offset their mounting holes towards the bottom center where all the electronics live, (TCL Specifically). This means that the mounting position on the wall will be much lower than what was traditional. It also means there is a risk of the mount sticking below the bottom of the TV or slightly more visible. Definitely a good idea to mock all of it up, can never trust the stuff to work all together perfectly
