I used to use a bit of perspex years ago it was 700mm long and 150mm wide 2 or 3mm thick it was probably the first speed skim ever, I was a bit slow on the up take, missed a trick there I used it to make my job easier didn't realise it would make £££££££ on the market.

@@bitTorrenter 900mm is a pretty good size for most walls, not too big or too small, though saying that, 1200mm is very good on the bigger wall

I once done a full kitchen with a spatula and very little use of the trowel I used that tyzack one and and age trowel worked real well but I felt i had to do it that way as the gear was not waiting for me it was go for that or lose a wall or two was all plasterboard but the plaster was setting fast I must do a video where i use a spat the whole way through it dont feel as normal but can work also , I did finish with a super flex but at that stage the walls are under control :):) Nice video mate glad you getting on well with this

Is it ok to skim over painted wall by putting pva on first ?
@markhep Жыл бұрын
Wes mate that's what I do just PVA first .and water the PVA down 👍
@M.E63 Жыл бұрын
@@markhep It seemed the walls in the video was painted but maybe I’m wrong? I want to try skimming for the first time as I never done it before, not to save money but I just want to try it myself, I done one coat of neat PVA as it says on the bottle use it neat, next coat I will do before I skim it and I’ll leave it tacky, I was worried as it’s silk paint

Fair play, Mark. That looks like a real time saver. I don't mind doing a bit of skimming for a bit of variety but I've not tried using one of those.....I might just have to go out and buy one now to try it out! I'd be worried about carrying it around in the back of the van just in case it got damaged, I'm assuming it is quite fragile?

Yere you can easy damage it. But a real time saver for me 👍👍👍

Been using 1 for about 2 years now but I wouldn’t use 1 on PVA n skim only on boards, the Moldovans n Romanians on my job are absolutely shit hot with them and their standard of work is fantastic, clean neat and very tidy, what more can I say, give credit where it’s due🇬🇧

How long do you leave the plaster before you go over it with the speedskim? Is there not a risk of taking it off the wall if using tool too soon. Nice job by the way mate.
@markhep3 жыл бұрын
Chears mate. With mine you can pritty much go over it straight away and it's fine. Does not take much plaster of at all. Realy good for the slower plasterer like me 👍

@@markhep Thanks for your reply Mark. I'm a slow beginner who has just bought a 900 mm Speedskim to try and help do my daughters me house. Using multi skim on the walls wan.t sure whether to leave for 10-15 mins before flattening.Another little question Mark is it just very light pressure on the blade as you cross the wall. Thanks again mate you've been a big help already.
@markhep3 жыл бұрын
Hi mate yes you don't need much pressure on it at all. I prefer to go straight over with it. On first coat. Put second coat on straight over again or you can wait 10 mins. Then when it's going hard. Just finish with your stainless trowel with abit of water👍
