I remember the BTR commercials as a kid and I always thought the figures looked barely presentable and little did I know at the time that the figures were partformers. Also, I don't even remember the commercials ever saying the word "Transformers" either, very weird.

Afraid not, there's no Lego trademarks anywhere on the BTRs, box or toy, and it's specifically marked "compatable with other building toys", Lego wouldn't pass on a chance to cross-promote if they had a hand in these. They're closer to Duploblocks, looks like the real thing, but you know it's not.

@clockworkorange14880 Yeah, that was the cartoon explanation for the color change. But the toy was sold as Thundercracker, and in the toys Thundercracker was a different character, so as not to confuse anyone I refer to it by it's toy name.

Well like I said in the opening, this toy was DONATED to me, so I didn't really buy it, and really how do you know you hate a toy before you buy it? You really need to have it in hand. Also keep in mind, this is entertainment, exagerated opinion for comedic effect, don't take it too seriously.

I got the Megatron set as a kid and really enjoyed even though I was used to Star Wars Lego sets. The base was really great for building ships. Such good memories...

Well, he's got the weird turret that rotates to his stomach for combination and minicon gimmicks. And he just looks clunky and uneven. I just don't like it, doesn't look good to me, but if you like it, I won't judge your opinion.

I mean, Japan had Transformers brand construction block things and they were actually kind of cool.... and that was years before BTR! This is epic horrible fail on every conceivable level. Afraid not, I really like that figure... keep in mind parts being loose and popping off could be regular mold degradation, not the fault of the toy itself. And even if you can fault the robot, remember the vehicle mode has to be considered, too, and it's nice regardless. Only the absolute worst makes it to Addict.

Megatron and Galvatron were pretty nice as well if you can get past the articulation. Same goes for supreme class Optimus. When you think about it, he's a spiritual successor to Star Convoy.

Mini-Con Longarm supreme optimus wasn't that great tbh. eh... overload was a great robot as was tidal wave. Some minicons like the air defense, land military and lifter were awesome.

BTR was actually a mega blocks line but honestly the only difference between lego and mega blocks is detailed pieces.

Actually that is armada Star Scream. In the cartoon series he is badly damaged by nemesis prime aka (Side Ways). The mini cons reformat him or what ever and change his red and black colors to that. And even in the carton he says " I look like Thunder Craker"

I got BTR Night Attack Demolishor before my 10th Birthday & Jetfire for my 10th birthday. Years later I still have both with no plans on selling or giving them away. Yes I do acknowledge problems with them personally & from what ive heard about the others but I LIKE them!

Although I can see your point, at least Kreo makes their Transformer line actually resemble a Transformer (look, posability, overall function, etc). Built To Rule not only made their Transformer line horribly inaccurate, but also just pure blocky figures that had little to no articulation or function.

Kreo did introduce what might be the best jet fighter brick based building toy ever with the Starscream alt mode, the robot might suck but the jet mode is a thing of beauty. Plus Kreons kick Lego Minifigure ass.
