I might go for the metal oil filter housings in the future but I wounded if it really makes a difference because the gasket will still go bad regardless. I know that over torquing the plastic one can make them leak, I guess you’d never have to replace the housing if it was metal, just the gasket then

I'm surprised (no wait a minute,I'm not surprised either) the engineers of this vehicle would design an engine with an oil filter that's orientated like that.IOW,an oil filter is usually mounted either to the bottom of the engine or to the side of it so that once the engine is shut off,the filter will remain full of oil via gravity & the filters anti drain- back valve. Maybe the housing design of the part Matts replacing still allows the filter to remain full after shutdown?? That's Hell to have to remove all that stuff just to access that housing.Unless those bolts or the intake were designed to remain in the part,& not fall out,I was clinching the entire time that you were lifting that last part up & outta there.

Hey Matt Just a suggestion they sell gloves 8 mil called Neotril think for mechanics. Also tutan flex Thor grip and Also gloves for snakes to prevent getting bit and be a lot easier to use those then all these other ones that keep ripping on you I forget what they're called hold on

I've done this on an 2011 jeep grand cherokee 3.6l and you should have bought the upgraded version of this part where everything is aluminum other then the cap cause this is also the oil cooler and is an faulty design! Dorman and other companies make upgraded versions. Good video brother 👍
