This is really captured my attention. Makes me want to start the experiment so I can use it for fuel in my Volkswagen diesel’s. I’m going to do a little research into this and see if we can start doing this here in Michigan. However in Michigan anyone who makes their own diesel fuel the state tracks their fuel purchases and if you’re not paying fuel tax they send you a bill a big one. There are cases out there about this. But I’m gonna try it on a small case and hopefully get back with y’all. It’s gonna be a while..

Sadly, the NPA of Ghana would rather clump down on such persons doing such innovations. Getting a license is extremely difficult and they will make you feel its cocaine you are producing. The government rather should push for people to be innovative and if it's a high profit venture, they should tax them rather than make it difficult to produce fuels through unconventional means. Standards can be set and players adhere to them
@stauffap3 жыл бұрын
This isn't an innovation. It's called cracking and the process is taught to every student, who has taken chemistry. This doesn't make sense in a world that desperately needs to get rid of fossil fuels. Cracking plastic and turning it into liquid substances is just another way of makeing a fossil fuel and burning it will release CO2, increase the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere and make global warming worse.
@oheneadu37303 жыл бұрын
@@stauffap I guess the current winter wave + cold temperatures in places such as Texas is as result of global warming? When it's hot-global warming, cold, global warming
@stauffap3 жыл бұрын
@@oheneadu3730 Sorry, but you can'tjust look at the world and feel that it's now colder. You actually have to measure it. Relevant for whether or not the earh is warming are the average global surface temperature (or more precisely global average temperature anomalies). And remember glaciers are still melting all over the world. Greenland and the northern ice caps are still melting. The ocean is getting warmer and the sea level is rising. What can cause the sea level to rise? 1. Melting land ice masses, 2. Thermal expansion of the oceans (when things get warmer they expand). So that the sea level is rising can only indicate a warming world. And third of all you need to understand the difference between weather and climate. Weather is what we are concerned with in our daily lives. It's the short term day to day variability. Climate is something different. The climate is the average over 30 years. That the world is warming doesn't mean that you will never ever get cold winters again in all places all over the world. Some places could actually become colder due to changing wind patterns. What's important is the average global surface temperature though. That's the thing that's going to rise. It will become warmer as long as we keep burning fossil fuels. But remember that's it's the average global surface temperature that's getting warmer. You can look these measurements up on the NOAA (global temperature anomalies). Science isn't a matter of just looking at the world and feeling something. You need to look at the numbers. Also, i've studied physics and chemistry interdisciplinary and in particual i've studied atmospheric physics and i've been reading the scientific literature in regards to climate sciene for well over a decade now. It's simple physics that tells us that the earth will keep warming as long as we keep burning fossil fuels. That's just a fact of physics (google the atmospheric greenhouse effect).

@stauffap3 жыл бұрын
@@onekycarscanners6002 We can do a lot with plastics. Not just turn them into Fuel and burn them. "Co2 emmisions need to cut down true" They need to go to ZERO in order to stop global warming. This practice of burning plastic without capturing or at least offsetting the CO2 is not compatible with stopping global warming. Of course plastic in the oceans is a problem as well. This doesn't solve that problem though and it creates new problems.

Pyrolysis is fascinating but economically speaking it’s not viable. It should be a subsidised industry in areas where plastic waste is in abundance. Foreign aid could be used seeing as we send our waste abroad to tick a box on our carbon footprints or industries that won’t change their reliance on plastic should contribute. Obviously if it was cost effective pyrolysis plants would be everywhere so it needs to be financially supported. Also the quality of this mans fuel isn’t great the impurities needs to go through another stage of refinement. Government should support him with a chemical engineer to visit and help train him

Is there some way to contact the creator of this reactor? i'm assuming it is some sort of pyrolysis.
@ogi223 жыл бұрын
You assume properly. It is a normal pyrolysis. I'm just curious what is he using to heat his plastic. That pile of wood suggested he is burning it to distill fuel from plastic. And he is talking about cleaning environment? First he is using wood (more CO2 in the atmosphere and a LOT of wasted energy to convert plastic into fuel) then he is burning that fuel emitting even more CO2 and other trash into the atmosphere. Nice. Just burn that trash directly and leave those trees alone. You will make less waste this way. Just imagine what he will have to burn to convert 50 tonnes of plastic every day. Or maybe he will use coal to heat that pile of trash?

I think if you publish something like this, you should show some due diligence calculations. E.g., what are the potential fuel requirements for collection, fuel requirements for cracking, fuel yields, output fuel prices, etc. It's hard for me to imagine the numbers work out favorably. Also, although I hate plastic waste, there's a general principal in environmental management that it's better to consolidate waste. (This is in contrast to the old adage that "The solution to pollution is dilution.") The fuel-production method shown here turns solid pollution into airborne pollution, which is only justifiable if the displaced pollution (from traditionally produced petroleum) is greater than the pollution from this petroleum _plus_ the pollution to create this petroleum.
@anitabellefeuille73623 жыл бұрын
No it does not add to air pollution the distillation is done in a air free environment. The motors where the fuel is burned can be scrubbed free of any contamination.

People amaze me at their willingness to spend a ridiculouse amount of time that they could use to make money just to save a nickel...
