Plastic Welding Repair splash guard

Welding a piece of the splash guard back on with an ISO-Tip 7700 cordless soldering iron. I did this after installing a trailer hitch on a Honda CRV.

Can the weld be sanded and then somehow sprayed to make it look like it was never welded?

I've never tried it, but I have heard of something similar. Instead of rubbing sand paper on the plastic, place the sand paper, rough side down, and tap it with a hammer. The grit will indent on the plastic.
