I did Plastidip on my 2013 BMW 335i just the "335i" portion to make it pop because my car is Alpine White. I have a lower bumper valence trim that is gloss black, M sport gloss black lip spoiler, gloss black M sport window trims, M sport gloss black mirrors, M sport gloss black grills, and custom painted gloss black accent trim above for my fogs (used to be flat silver yuck!) to make the car really shine with the white and black accents. Also color matched my side marker lights on side of the front bumper as well with Alpine White to blend in. I have indicator lights LED lighting in my mirrors anyways. After 2 years countless washes, rains, blazing Texas heat, ice, and road grime barely any of it has faded. But I will redo it tomorrow. Very easy 20-30 min tops including dry time. I did use a heat gun in between on low though.

You should look into gloss coats also made from plasti dip also if you want to wrap your roof they make gloss wraps now! No more matte colors! Safety at night and classier look!

My question is...what happens to the radiator that sits directly behind the grill? Does the Plasti Dip burn off or will it cause issues with cooling? Might be a stupid question but it's the reason I have not done it yet.

if you can, put a sheet of paper behind the grill before spraying, then take it carefully before it dries out, probably the best thing you can do, since it's not worth to take the elements apart for dipping

it's a valid question. I'd put a cardboard sheet infront of the radiator to protect it.

oh, and change the paper with every layer if it's necessary: put paper in, spray, remove paper, wait, repeat, this way you'll prevent pulling the dip

It would of been way better if you would of taken off the grill and sprayed it somewhere else so no paint would get on the radiator. Same for all the badges. It just goes for a much cleaner look.

I used plasti dip today, did racing stripes, decals and tail lights. I had over spray also. You can't peel it off because it's too thin. I let it dry for about an hour and then took a bath towel and rubbed it off with no problem. My over spray was on a flat surface. If it's in a seam you may need to wrap a butter knife in the towel to get into the seam.

I had the same problem. I wiped the hood down with bug n tar remover then washed and rewaxed. I did this on a cool hood in the shade. Very easy and no issues.

Mine doesn't look perfect but it was my first time ever I did my emblems my entire grill and my hubcaps it looks awesome u can only notice a few imperfections if u fixated on it up close I got the matte black cherry I love it. I just wanna do the chrome on my door handles and the edge around my windows. Any tips for that?

I donno about that product, but this morning I went to a friend of mine's paint shop...he is a professionnal vehicule painter...I had this project that looks pretty much like yours on that video about getting my badges and emblems black and since I've known him for many years, he kinda discouraged me of going through with doing so...Said it is almost impossible that the paint will not chip or come off after a while when applied on chrome...that the best way is to remove the chrome but that's not a job for the faint hearthed...he showed me the job he did of painting the front grille of his BMW and pointed out some small areas where the paint would start to peel off...He said that if I do it still, it would have to be redone every once in a while!

Does platidip hold up well to the elements? I tried using an acrylic enamel paint on the chrome grille of my Acura and I'm starting to see a little chrome shining through in spots. And I put on alot of coats 🤷‍♂️
