I really miss AZ with all the wide open access to uninhabited ranges everywhere, not so much available in TX, too many people here, farms everywhere, and it is harder to find open public lands. I shoot at the "shooting range" in Waco most often. Great practice drills, guys.

when you shoot from the standing make sure you are square to the bad guys, better to get shot in the plate then shot in the side.

Square up your body. Blading your body you open that side up for enemy fire. If your going to do that put side plates in. Just my opinion. Great video though.

Emre Özyurt it's a basic Condor plate carrier. It has been elaborately evolved. It has many pouches for all my needs. O.D. Green is its original color, but looks nothing like that due to its selective camouflage ability.

Great Videos guys.....quick question (my apologies if already asked). Are side plates recommended, or impractical for civilian use?
@RonBudLlamaDrama
@RonBudLlamaDrama 8 жыл бұрын
+YenzHouse Not practical. If you drive convoy work for contracting or security details then yes, because door panels provide shitty cover and your side are at stake a lot. But in general, no. The average person will have is front towards the opponent.

Hey I’m a EMT at a hospital just tryin to cover my bases. Hospital is cutting hours to make up for money lost during covid. I bought a carrier and front plate but could not afford a back plate. How important is a back plate ?

You can protect your front, you can’t protect your back. If budget is an issue, order a plate from Tactical Scorpion Gear. Amazing armor products for the price they’re supposed to be at. NIJ certified as well

is Level IV plate heavier than Level III?
@IndependenceTraining
@IndependenceTraining 9 жыл бұрын
Level IV is ceramic, and is typically lighter than Level III, which in this video is made of steel.
@prandomable
@prandomable 9 жыл бұрын
IndependenceTraining how much lighter? I know those AR500 ballistic grade armor plates weighs around 9 lb each.
@IndependenceTraining
@IndependenceTraining 9 жыл бұрын
***** According to the AR500 Armor website (www,ar500armor.com), their Level III+ AR500 steel plate is 8lbs per plate, and their Level IV ceramic plate is 7.5lbs per plate, when both are in size 10x12". So with a set of front and back plates, you're looking at a 1lb difference, with ceramics being lighter.
@prandomable
@prandomable 9 жыл бұрын
IndependenceTraining not much difference so it doesn't really matter... Doubt the people who wear it would even notice it.
@IndependenceTraining
@IndependenceTraining 9 жыл бұрын
***** Ounces = pounds and pounds = pain. You do notice it over time, but it all depends on the types of threats you are looking to stop and the types of environments you anticipate having to work in. Price is also a factor, as always.

Just a thought. But why do guys spend hundred of dollars on a plate carrier with plates when their head is totally exposed and not protected? Seems like common sense that your head is more vital than your chest.
@jg5941
@jg5941 8 жыл бұрын
Mostly, in a combat situation you and your threat are going to be on the move. So, "center of mass" will be point of aim because of the lesser degree of difficulty of that shot.
@arteompisarchuk8236

+Jay G It doesn't change the fact that shrapnel and debris is flying everywhere. And if a chunk of shrapnel or debris hits you in the head pretty hard, it could be deadlier than getting shot in the chest. That's why I'm getting a Kevlar helmet first.
@jg5941
@jg5941 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, in a war zone. The majority of citizens who wear armor are planning for some sort of civil unrest, disaster scenario where that type of protection is an unnecessary bonus. Shrapnel or the high degree of skill need to make a 200y head shot isn't going to be very common.
@cloud819
@cloud819 8 жыл бұрын
You need to protect your head. But normally the first step is body plate, then head. People shooting at you from 300 yards or while you are moving are not going to be aiming for your head. Of course that doesn't mean they are going to hit you there. But yeah you should do both body and head protection. It is always a trade off. In the end don't get shot. But if it is going to happen you have to attempt to increase your luck. That is what plate does. Center mass is your largest threat zone and most targeted. But even with full plate and a helmet you are a squishy mass that can be easily killed. Strangely body shots with a high caliber rifle is more effective than a head shot as well. Snipers shot peoples heads because people use their eyes to peak over obstacles and that is sometimes all they can shoot at. But head shots are romanticized. A sniper will hit whatever you want to show them. Many times wounding an enemy is more effective than killing them outright; So feet, shoulders or whatever is just as much of a target. well the same is true though for anyone wanting to kill you, but your ability to fight back would be hindered with ever part armored. It is all a balance. Body shots tend to be the most deadly if you can get into the inner cavity. Shot for shot that is where people die. Bullets have been know the ricochet off of heads; they are hard. Rarely doe a body shot ricochet. But yeah buy both. Those are your 2 most vital areas.
