Here's another one of my favorite gold nib pens! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGbIgaGVd9t3jbc

When you a hard start, try stroking the breathing hole of the nib with your wet finger tip. It brings the ink down nicely.

A bit of trivia: the number 585 on the nib is another way of saying 14K which contains 58.5 percent pure gold. I have this pen in Chenonceau white with a fine point nib. The first time I inked it (using a Platinum cartridge) it took FOREVER for the ink to get through the feed for the first time. After that it has been totally reliable with no hard starts. Best wishes. 🙂

Ooh that is a fun bit of info! I had no idea. Thanks for sharing 😊. The Chenonceau white model is gorgeous! I haven’t had many issues with the feed or hard starting, either, after this video!

I love the Platinum Classic Black (Iron Gall) series of inks. Forest Black is great, but my favorite is probably Citrus Black. The 3776 is probably one of my favorite pens of all time -- I prefer one of the soft nibs, and the mediums and broads. The platinum converter is easily disassembled for cleaning. I find the coarse nib really interesting -- really really broad. The narrower Platinum nibs tend to be drier.

I had my eye on Citrus Black for a bit. It is such a nice color. I’m glad you enjoy the Platinum 3776. I hope to add more with different nib sizes to my collection. Sounds like you have some good ones!

I have a blue one with EF nib. Writes like a pencil. I love the feedback of the Century. I can't uderstand why you got false starts. I never had a false start from my first inking until today. I left it for 4 months and it still wrote immediately. I never noticed the dust issue, maybe it is the room you are in, or the green glossy color? Nice review. Thanks.
@StationeryDumpling8 ай бұрын
I think the false start could've been due to me pulling too much moisture from the nib with the paper towel. I'm not sure either, it's been a pretty consistent writer since! As for the dust, I think it's happening to all of my pens that are darker, so it's probably on all my pens, it just shows more on darker ones, LOL. Must be my room then, haha... whoops

I got the green one too, but mine is a UEF. I use Monteverde Green in mine, but I would bet that Octopus Fluids Goblin would be great with a Coarse nib.

ooh that's like the opposite end of the nib width spectrum! lol. just looked up the Octopus Fluids Goblin. I agree that'd look fantastic! Added to my list :)

The ink reservoir is referred to colloquially as an "ink miser" and does not protect the ink from contamination. Basically, you will only notice it when the bottle is low, the remaining ink in the bottle will concentrate in the ink miser so you don't have to do pen gymnastics to get the last few drops out.
@StationeryDumpling7 ай бұрын
Oh, good to know! Now that I think about it, it doesn't really make sense to assume that it would protect ink from contamination, haha. It does seem helpful for inking up tho! Thank you!!

@@StationeryDumpling No problem. I stumbled upon your video because I'm justifying my purchase of my laurel green 3776 in EF and I'm glad you enjoy yours as well.

Visited atlas stationers when I went to Chicago last week. Very nice store! And I just bought this pen in the chatre blue with the ultra extra fine nib from Yoseka today! Really enjoying it, my first platinum and my third gold nib! That green is really pretty btw. Makes me want to get a green ink.

Oh wow! That's so cool you got to visit the store in person! I would love to go one day. The Chartres blue is soo pretty! I need to try that UEF nib! Congrats on your third gold nib! I thought I'd stop at 3 and now have... too many to count off the top of my head lol! Get the green ink. Green ink is my fave of all the colors 😁

Every platinum pen I have were very slow initially for the ink to travel through the feed to the nib. But only the first time.

Interesting! Mine hasn’t given me any issues ever since, so that checks out! 😊

How would you compare the platinum to a jowo 6 steel nib? I was wondering how much of a difference there was, in terms of softness, since the Platinum is a 14k gold nib.
@StationeryDumpling10 ай бұрын
It’s hard to say because this is the only platinum gold nib I have and the coarse size is so large, I feel like it impacts my impression of it. I think compared to the steel nib, it is softer and smoother, but not significantly noticeable like a Pilot gold nib would be. Still a pleasant and noticeable experience tho. More like a subtle upgrade
@radiofreealbemuth10 ай бұрын
@StationeryDumpling ah, I see, thanks. Pilot gold nibs are my favorites. I was curious because lately I've been wondering if I should upgrade my steel jowo 6 nib into an 18k gold nib, or instead get a Platinum Century 3776, since they're around the same price range. I probably would get the coarse nib as well
@StationeryDumpling10 ай бұрын
I really like Pilot too. I was initially a little turned off by my platinum nib because there’s no bounce. But it is growing on me and I’m happy I have one in my collection. The coarse is so large tho. Works well, but not usually in all situations

Please don’t tighten it so much 😬 There’s no need and you don’t want it to crack. 🤗 Other than that, lovely pen.

Thank you! I have a tendency to do that and keep forgetting. 😅

I wanted to say the same, go easy on the tightening.

Sailor 21K nib - The best on Earth. But the poor capacity of the converters (fitted in their King of Pen as well) is disappointing.
