Back in the late 80s when I was still a young teen, I didn't even know that this was a cover song, I thought Platinum Blonde wrote it lol

I remember that the twins were also big time singers. They're called Tu.

I dare you to post the video for "Connect Me". If I still had a betamax player I could probably have transferred it to a DVD-R and then transfer that digitally to computer. But no, I just had to f'n use a betamax tape instead of vhs tape to record all those 80s music videos when it aired on CBC Video Hits back in 1987. WTF was I thinking ... SMFH.

The live stage scenes in this video are quite similar to the Connect Me video except that the Connect Me video has slightly more darker lighting if I remember correctly.

I am an 80s kid. I still to this day have not seen the CONNECT ME video. I have even messages Mark Holmes to post the video. No luck, yet. There was a video compilation VHS, put out by Sony back in the late 1990s. I seen it in the music store. The photo used on the box was the same photo used on their Seven Year Itch: 1982-1989 greatest hits. I did NOT buy it because the video for, "FIRE" was not added to the compilation. But all other videos were added including, CONNECT ME. I should have purchased the video, as not too long after. it was pulled from the shelves because Mark Holmes threatened to sue Sony, as apparently SONY released the video without Platinum Blonde signing off on it. Some kind of contractual stuff. Would have been a great collector's item. I still kick myself for not buying it.

@@rhymeandreasoning Hindsight is always 20/20, we all have past regrets from that time period and there's a lot we would have did differently if we could do it over again. I hate Sony, if Sony didn't make the betamax format I would have been forced to use VHS and I would still be able to watch it today on a VHS machine today LOL. Pretty sure the Connect Me video was filmed around the same time as the fire video, likely the same concert location too. I think there was always something about the Contact album that Mark Holmes didn't like, he always seems to kind of view it in shame or shy away from it for whatever reason, I don't know. The Contact album was just re-released on vinyl this summer so who knows, maybe the Connect Me video might reappear somewhere later on. There's a lot of video from the 80s that have been lost and not perserved because everything was still analogue at the time.

@@OVI-Wan-Kenobi-8 I think it was late 1987. Even very early 1988. TU the girls who are singing back up in this video, and Platinum Blonde had the same management company. TU put other their debut album in 1987, and Platinum Blonde had released their CONTACT album that year also. A tour was planned. With both acts touring together. I remember getting my ticket to the concert. And then the tour was cancelled. PB had a falling out with their management. I think they were being scammed by their management. The CONTACT album era for PB I think was a rough time. So the tour was cancelled. Tickets were refunded. TU stayed with the management and did one more album, that went nowhere, then they went MIA.

@@rhymeandreasoning I remember the TU twins from CBC Video Hits, yes it was around 1987/88 because I remember I was in grade 6 last year of elementary school, amazing year in music that year. I wasn't old enough to go to my first concert until the next following year in 1989 when I turned 13, but by then a lot of things in 80s music were already changing, and much faster after that. I grew up mostly with the Contact album and Alien Shores, I wasn't old enough or cool enough for the early 80's post punk era when Standing In the Dark was released lol. I actually didn't get to see Platinum Blonde live until the year 2000, when Mark Holmes was promoting the 7 Year Itch album, it was basically just Mark Holmes solo band at that time, Sergio didn't rejoin until much later. That reminds me, I need to re-upload some of my live PB concert videos that I recorded over the last years since there are no more live shows anymore. Thanks again for this video upload, it brings back a lot of pre-teen 80s memories.
